Mr. Ehrlich’s Excellent Testing Award for April 2026
We are pleased to announce the recipients of this award did an outstanding job and wowed the instructors at testing. This award is titled the “Mr. Ehrlich’s Excellent Testing Award” Mr. Steve Ehrlich was one of the founding owners of Killearn Lakes TaeKwonDo, as well as being Betty’s Brother. Mr. Ehrlich loved judging and being involved in testing which included coming to all of the awards ceremonies. Unfortunately, he passed away 7 years ago from cancer. The instructors and staff wanted a way to honor him as well as recognize students who have a particularly amazing test. This Award is a pint glass because Mr. Ehrlich collected pint glasses, the design on the front is in green because his favorite color was green, and it is filled with his favorite candy (Skittles & Reese’s). This cycle we selected one student to receive this award.
The Steve Ehrlich Excellent Testing award is awarded to the person or persons who demonstrates true excellence in their testing. This excellence cannot just be in one area, but in all four: Forms, focus pads, sparring/one-steps, and boards.
The winner for April 2026 is Chloe Ceballos!
This student has been working hard since they were just four years old. Consistently showing up and having a smile on their face every time they’re in class or any other events. This person‘s testing exemplified exactly what we want to see at higher ranks and set the bar high for other black belts. This person‘s form looked amazing at testing with prepping before every move, showcasing the art of martial arts with purposeful timing in her form, great power throughout the entire form, and kicks that were over her head. When it came to focus pads, she executed her kicks with perfect technique and on her judge’s choice the instructor purposely put her pad at her head level where she hit it every single time, no problem. This student’s sparring at testing was beyond impressive to the instructors as she was one of the smallest ones out there and sparred every round showcasing, various types of kicks, spins, jumps, in multiple kicks without putting her foot down in each round. She even offered to spar an additional round just because she wanted to. She crushed her boards on the first! This person truly exemplified what we look for in a black belt testing!
Congratulations to Chloe
