We're getting so close to the 2026 U.S. Practical Shooting Assn. (USPSA) Area 6 Championship!

Area 6 is comprised of 92 Clubs within 9 sections, including individuals from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and North/South Carolina.

We'll be excited to welcome over 400 competitors to our Range 5 Action Pistol Bay area, Sept. 9-13, where their skills will be tested in a variety of unique, fast-paced challenges.

Even if you aren't competing, spectators are welcome to check out the action and to take a tour of the park, free of charge. We hope you'll join us!

A reminder to sign up for the CMP's 2026 5K Range Run & 1K Fun Run – set for Sept. 26!

The event will follow a course designed along the paved pathways throughout our 500 acres. All ages welcome!

Runners will also have the chance to observe the several unique areas of our outdoor facility, like the 600-yard electronic range, pistol bays, sh***un sporting clay fields and archery range.

Ample parking is available onsite, with clean restrooms located throughout the grounds and a fully stocked CMP Pro Shop located within the park’s Club House!

Join us THIS SUNDAY as we host our monthly M1 Carbine Match!

The match will be held on Range 2 at 1 p.m., after the day's Garand, Springfield, Modern/Vintage Military Match.

Course of fire is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters), 10 shots rapid-fire prone, 10 shots rapid-fire sitting, 10 shots slow-fire standing.

All fired at 100 yards, and all experience levels welcome!

If you can't make it this weekend, the last Monthly M1 Carbine Match of the year is set for Oct. 4.

CMP’s Monthly Matches Return for Fall Season

The CMP is excited to announce the return of its Monthly Matches lineup to close out the 2026 air gun and smallbore season!

Monthly Matches are open to adult and junior competitors of all skill levels and offer a variety of events, including 3×20 precision and sporter air r***e competitions and 60-shot standing air r***e and air pistol competitions. Monthly Matches are held at CMP’s Competition Centers in Ohio and Alabama, each equipped with 80 indoor electronic targets.

Monthly Matches remaining for 2026 include:
- Sept. 19
- Oct. 17
- Nov. 21

As in previous Monthly Matches, a 3×20 smallbore event will be held at the Alabama location the day following the air gun competitions – conducted at CMP’s Talladega Marksmanship Park, just a short drive from the Judith Legerski CMP Competition Center. Those dates include Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 22.

Additionally, the Ohio location will be hosting a special Sport Shooting Depot consignment store during the fall months, beginning Sept. 19! Products on display and available for purchase will include International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) approved equipment like jackets, pants and more.

The Garand/Springfield/Vintage Military/Modern Military or GSMM is one of the CMP's most popular Games events.

Course of fire (entirely at 200 yards) is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots slow-fire standing.

Fi****ms accepted for competition include the M1 Garand, Springfield (M1903) and As-Issued Vintage Military Ri**es (U.S. Krag, M1917 or manually operated foreign military r***es). Modern Military includes semi-automatic military-type r***es of U.S. or foreign manufacturers that comply with CMP Games Rules.

The match is open to new or experienced competitors alike! Adults and juniors welcome.

A NEW CMP PODCAST IS OUT!

In this episode, we speak with CMP's Hank Gray, who tells us more about one of the core aspects of the Civilian Marksmanship Program: education.

Gray arrived at the CMP after a long career within the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and a full career that included national-level successes and even a few trips to the Paralympic Games as coach of Team USA.

Now, he's working to expand and improve our educational offerings through existing outlets and new initiatives already in the works. Whether a novice or expert, it's a great time to become involved in the sport!
