A massive thunderhead billowed into Olympic Valley on the eve of The Broken Arrow Skyrace. It took one look at the race courses weaving through and around the mountains… and slowly retreated.

Another fun weekend ahead at what’s been called the “World Cup of trail running” held right here in our backyard. Photos and stories to follow.

Have you heard of the Broken Windows Theory?

The idea is simple: when people see broken windows, graffiti, litter, and neglect, they begin to assume nobody is paying attention. Nobody cares.

And when that happens, standards slowly erode.

One broken window becomes two. A little trash becomes a lot. Neglect breeds neglect.

But over the past seven years, l've become convinced there's an opposite force at work here in Olympic Valley...

Klondike: A True Legend of Olympic Valley

He wasn’t just the shop dog at Olympic Valley Ski & Bike, he was the heart of Olympic Valley. Some of us even called him “Mayor.”

With his gentle eyes, quiet wisdom, and steady presence, Klondike welcomed everyone like an old friend and watched over his mountain family with uncommon loyalty. He connected with people and other pets with love.

Being a neighbor and a pal of Scott’s, I got to know Klondike well and introduced him to every family member and friend whoever visited us. And glad I did.

Klondike’s spirit will roam these mountains and live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

RIP… and much love to you, Scott and your family during this difficult time.

From all your friends at OVPOA…

Thank You, Stewards of the Valley!
.. to the Olympic Valley residents who volunteered yesterday for our Adopt-A-Highway cleanup and Green Waste Drop-Off monitoring efforts.

Because of your willingness to give a few hours of your time, our roadsides are cleaner, our community is safer, and our collective wildfire resilience is stronger.

Olympic Valley is a special place because of the people who care for it.

We collected 8 large bags of debris off a 2-mile stretch of Highway 89, and the community dropped off around 90 cubic yards of green waste!

Thank you for showing up, lending a hand, and helping steward the place we all call home.

Olympic Valley Shows Up. Let's Do It Again.

Last month, residents removed 180 cubic yards of green waste from around their homes—the equivalent of six giant dumpsters filled with potential wildfire fuel.

This Sunday, we're looking for a few volunteers to help keep the program running smoothly.

Just one hour of your time helps support a safer, more fire-resilient community.

Where: Across from the Olympic Valley Fire Department
When: Sunday, 9 AM–4 PM / One-hour shifts available

It's simple. It's meaningful. And it's a great way to meet neighbors who care about Olympic Valley as much as you do.

Message me if you can help. My email: [email protected]

One Hour Can Make a Difference

We still have several open volunteer shifts for this Sunday’s Green Waste Drop-Off event and would greatly appreciate your help.

We’re looking for Olympic Valley residents who can donate just one hour between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the Green Waste site across from the OV Fire Department.

Volunteers help welcome residents, collect basic information, and keep the drop-off process running smoothly. No experience is necessary.

This program is one of the reasons Olympic Valley remains a Firewise Certified Community, helping reduce wildfire risk while bringing neighbors together in a shared effort to protect the place we all love.

If you can spare an hour, please comment below or send me a direct message with your preferred time.

Thank you for helping keep Olympic Valley safe, beautiful, and resilient.

“If people believe there’s an imaginary river out there, you don’t tell them there’s no river there. You build an imaginary bridge over the imaginary river.” ~ Khrushchev

If there was ever a real bridge built over an imaginary river, Rainbow Bridge might be it, spanning nothing but granite, air, and the grit to cross wicked terrain.
