We teach sailing. But sailing teaches a whole lot more. ⛵️

It teaches you to make decisions when things are moving fast. To pay attention. To trust yourself. To work with other people. To get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Sometimes you get it right. Sometimes you capsize.

And then you figure out how to right the boat and keep going.

That might be our favorite part.

Whether you’re 12 or 52, learning to sail builds confidence, independence, problem-solving and grit — not because someone tells you that you can do hard things, but because you get out there and prove it to yourself.

We’re pretty lucky to have Lake Tahoe as our classroom. 💙

They asked for a sunset charter.

They did not necessarily ask to go sailing on a race boat. 😂

But somewhere between the breeze filling in, Lake Tahoe showing off, and an impromptu performance of Shoop, they decided they were VERY into it.

Not exactly the sunset cruise they were expecting. Possibly better. ⛵️

Our adult Learn to Sail classes get you out of the classroom and onto the water — learning by actually sailing.

And yes, grown-ups are absolutely allowed to spend an afternoon ripping around Lake Tahoe in little boats. We highly recommend it. 😏⛵️

You don’t learn to sail by getting everything right.

You learn by trying. Tacking too late. Missing the mark. Getting the boat moving again. And trying one more time.

Maybe that’s why we love teaching kids to sail. ⛵️💙

The lessons tend to be bigger than the boat.

Day 3 of learning to sail. ⛵️

There’s a lot happening at once when you’re learning — steering, sail trim, wind direction, boat balance… and somehow you’re supposed to remember all of it at the same time. 😂

But this is what progress looks like. A little more feel for the boat. A little less thinking. A little more confidence every time out.

Three days in and already sailing an RS Zest around Lake Tahoe. Not bad. 🙌
