I want to shout out Red Aspen Brand Ambassadors because if they didn't put so much out there for free, the training, the tools, the community, I wouldn't be able to do this. It's given me a chance to meet new people, interact, engage, and actually support each other. If you're starting something new, hang on. It's rough right at the beginning. I thought I had to figure out everything and know everything on day one. It gets a lot easier. I learn and comprehend differently, I live with FASD and I'm dyslexic, so I have to take things step by step. If I can do this, anybody can do this.
I'm just getting started. Wild and polished, learning out loud. Come learn with me.

This is my $49 Curious Refresh Kit, exactly as it came. I’m posting the date because Red Aspen changes what’s inside these kits, and I want to be clear about what I received. What was in mine: tan makeup bag, 2 concealer sample cards, Lennie tubing mascara, hand cream, Nail Dashes, spoolie brow brush, and the eyebrow gel jar. I’m still learning what each piece does, no expert mode here, just unboxing and figuring it out with you. If you got a different $49 kit, drop what month you joined so other newbies can see the variations. What works for one may not work for another, and that’s okay. ♥️🫶🏽♥️

Imagine showing up to a new ball team. You don't know anyone, you don't know the plays, you're just trying to figure out where to stand. Instead of feeling welcomed, you feel watched, like every move is being graded.
That's how starting something new can feel sometimes.
Being new is weird. I joined to learn, not to pretend I already know it all. I thought I'd find teammates, but right now it feels more like tryouts where I'm getting critiqued instead of coached. I'm not here to act like an expert. I'm here to learn, mess up, ask the dumb questions, and get better. Lately when I ask one person something, it turns into two people correcting me, and I walk away more confused than when I started. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm trying to understand.
If you've ever been the new girl on the team and just wanted someone to say "you're good, keep going," I see you. If you're new at anything and you feel like you're walking on eggshells just to learn, that's not on you. We need spaces where beginners are allowed to be beginners. I'm learning out loud over here. Come learn with me.

Today I saw a great question in the comments and it's one we should ALL ask before we put on makeup or nails: "Is it safe?" I'm answering as me, Hollie, brand new to all this. A few months ago my whole routine was mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick. I used that same lipstick as blush and even as eyeshadow. I didn't know what primer was, I didn't know what concealer did, and I definitely didn't know what a nail dehydrator was. I'm learning in real time.
Because I'm new, I would not share anything I wouldn't feel okay using on myself or my family. So I looked it up first.

Here's what I found, straight from Red Aspen:
• The prep pads are just isopropyl alcohol and water. They wipe the oil off so the dash can stick. The brand says they're safe for that use.
• The dehydrator has NO alcohol. It's ethyl acetate, water, and potassium hydroxide. It just removes surface moisture for a few seconds.
• The brush-on glue is ethyl cyanoacrylate, polymethyl methacrylate, and BHT. That's the same base most nail glues use.
• The cuticle oil is plant oils, argan, jojoba, grape seed, rosehip, and vitamin E. You use it after, not before.
• The whole line is listed as cruelty-free, vegan, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and paraben-free, and the dashes are made to not damage your natural nail when you take them off the gentle way.

For the mamas asking about littles, they actually make Petite sizes for small nail beds, and the tabs are just sticky stickers for 1 to 3 day wear. No drilling, no acrylic monomer, no strong salon smell. You pop them off at home with warm soapy water and a little oil.
Is it like the harsh stuff at the salon? That's why I'm learning this. It's a press-on you control, not a two-hour appointment with chemicals you can't pronounce.
I'm not a chemist and I'm not giving medical advice. I'm just a 40-year-old beginner sharing what the company publishes and what I'm comfortable using while I learn. If you want the screenshots of the ingredients, message me and I'll send them.

Got questions? Ask me. If I don't know, we'll look it up together. That's the beginner-friendly beauty I wish someone had given me on day one.
