Year two of CYCT hosting the Islands Race is in the books and wow, did Puget Sound keep us on our toes! This was the final race of the South Sound Series and the last chance to upset the rankings.
We kicked things off with snow on the docks, freezing temps, and a light air forecast. From there it was a full grab bag of conditions: glassy calm, sneaky puffs, and just enough breeze (eventually) to keep the fleet moving and complete the full course.
26 boats showed up ready to play, and the crews that stuck it out used nearly every minute of the 13-hour time limit to chase wind and fight for every inch of progress towards the finish. The kind of day where patience (and maybe a little stubbornness) paid off.
Huge shout out to our Race Committee boat, Signal Vessel, and volunteers for sticking it out from start to… well, almost midnight! We can't pull off races like this without the dedication of our club members 👏
👉 Stay tuned for more opportunities to race, crew, or get involved on Race Committee—we’d love to have you out on the water with us. ⚓
