Coach, Martha Mendenhall, is presently the Head Coach at the Flop House High Jump Club in Tacoma, WA. She has coached track and field for over 35 years, and during that time, has coached for various high schools and universities and founded three clubs in the Tacoma area. Coach Mendenhall has coached high school, college, club, open, elite and Masters. Coach Mendenhall has extensive Coaching Educa
tion through USA Track and Field and the IAAF and has reached their highest level of certification (USATF/LEVEL 3 JUMPS) (IAAF/LEVEL 5 JUMPS). She also holds certifications from USFTCCCA, and in 2018 was awarded the USATF Coaching Mentorship Program Scholarship to the CVEATC (Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center), Chula Vista, CA. Marth’s competitive track and field career began in grade school, and her love for the sport really blossomed in high school and college. Then as an open/club athlete her experiences ultimately led to her passion for coaching. As a member of our USA Track and Field Masters Team for over 30 years Martha attained National and World Rankings in the high jump and several other events. In her specialty, the high jump, she is a 3-time World Champion and a 14-time National Champion. Coach Mendenhall has brought her years of experience and knowledge to camps and clinics across the country including the annual Dick Fosbury Track and Field Clinic in Brunswick, Maine, where she had the honor of coaching side by side with the great Dick Fosbury, World Records Camps with Willie Banks, Maximum Velocity Track Camp with Jeremy Fischer, Simplot Camps, , UW Winter Indoor Track and Field Camp, and Nike Track and Field Camp, in addition to her own camps and clinics.
