Race are held at our 1/10 mile oval paved track at the New York State Fairgrounds near Gate 6. Boys and Girls race weekly from April through August, with fun races continuing into the fall. Microds and Open Wheels are powered by one-cylinder 5 HP Briggs and Stratton Engines
Rules for engine modifications, car weights, and safety provisions are enforced by both local and state organizations
All
cars must meet specifications of the New York State Microd Association Plan Book
Safety First is our emphasis
All cars must have roll cages, 5 point safety harnesses, and proper guards and shields. All drivers must have proper helmets, gloves, and wrist restraints. The Syracuse Microd Club members can race in the New York State Microd Association (NYSMA) Invitational Races in Sodus, Owego, and Cortland as well as the Syracuse track. Microd Racing benefits the entire family while instilling pride in a job well done to the driver and pit crew alike. At the Syracuse Microd Club we promote togetherness of the racing family. Everyone is involved...the kids do the racing, but the parents, friends, and family who volunteer as judges, tech inspectors, scorers, flaggers, concession workers, helpers, and pit crews make these races happen each week. When the racing season is over, that racing family is still there...having winter parties, club activity nights such as going to Syracuse Crunch games, as well as just getting together at the end of the year banquets on both the local and state levels.
