Results & photos from the 2024 Clark 6 Hour Classic have been uploaded & the post-race email sent out to racers & volunteers.
Race recap by RD Lauren Wetterhahn: Thirty four runners battled the cold, rain, mud, slippery rocks, and leaf covered trails with 6 hours on the clock last Saturday, 11/2 at Clark Reservation State Park.
(A poetic ending to a 2024 race series that began under similar conditions in April for Ridge Rumble. Minus the flying aid station.)
Each runner who toed the line had a goal in mind: reaching 50km, going the full 6 hours, running longer than last year, a podium spot. What they all had in common was a willingness to push themselves to reach their goals and then a little bit further.
That is the spirit of the Clark 6 Hour Classic; surprising yourself with what you can accomplish when you don't let your perceived limits stop you short of your potential. In the words of race founder Scott English, not stopping the race but rather letting the race stop you.
Watching runners challenge themselves under the most difficult conditions I've witnessed in 5 years of being part of this event was simply inspiring. As was seeing the trail running community come together to support the runners and the race.
Shout out to all of our volunteers, USARacing for quick work on our podium prizes, Scott for use of the timing system, and R3 founder Iain Nelson for being here to take on all the behind the scenes work it takes to make an event appear effortless.
Congratulations to all the racers, from first timers to familiar faces. Mark your calendars for next year's event, scheduled for Saturday, 11/8. Our sights are set on the 2025 Clark 6 Hour Classic surpassing the race's pre-pandemic peak back in 2019.
