Hello 2026! Happy New Year!
As we step into January, I can't help but feel it’s a moment of transition—a threshold to cross. With holiday decor coming down and a fresh year ahead, many of us find ourselves caught in the rush of creating resolutions, often rooted in what we believe is lacking in our lives.
Resolutions can often bring high pressure and disappointment. Research has shown that they can demand too much too soon, and by mid-January, many are abandoned, leaving feelings guilt.
I prefer the idea of a reset—an opportunity for a calm, pressure-free review of the past year, allowing me to make intentional choices for grounding as I head into the new year.
A reset invites gentler steps, focusing on returning to ourselves rather than trying to reinvent who we are.
Resets differ from resolutions in their attitude towards our personal growth. While resolutions involve drastic changes designed to fix perceived flaws—and can lead to guilt if unmet—resets offer gentle adjustments to our habits and values, encouraging flexibility and self-compassion.
And a reset doesn’t require perfection or a major transformation; it can happen anytime, but January often provides a natural pause for reflection and intention-setting.
Areas to Reset:
🏋️♂️Body & Health: Nourish yourself with wholesome foods, stay hydrated, and engage in enjoyable movement.
🧠Mind & Focus: Reduce screen time, journal for clarity, and declutter your space.
👩❤️👨Emotions & Relationships: Set healthy boundaries, distance yourself from energy drainers, and nurture supportive connections.
🏠Home & Rhythm: Refresh daily routines and create comforting spaces.
💖Soul & Spirit: Choose a guiding word for the year and start a gratitude or meditation practice.
Starting Your Reset
A wonderful way to kick off your reset is by reviewing your camera roll and calendar from the past year. Scroll through your photos to spot moments of joy and inspiration, and look back at your planner to identify events that energized or drained you. These reflections can guide your intentions for the year ahead.
Focus on What Truly Matters
⁉️What do you want more of this year?
⁉️What do you want less of?
⁉️Where do you need to protect your attention, time, and energy?
As you consider a reset looking at boundaries to help you embrace more joy while saying no to what drains you.
Letting Go...
January is also a time for release. Just as you clear away decorations, think about letting go of one habit, mindset, or expectation that no longer serves you—perhaps perfectionism or self-criticism. This creates space for new opportunities.
As you step into this new year, embrace this gentle reset, reflecting on what has truly mattered and setting intentions aligned with your authentic self.
