There are new bridges at Swedetown Trails.
Go run!

We have 2, 5 and 10 mile routes created at Swedetown as well, just waiting for the mountain bike maps to get organized so we can update with the information officially. I will post the routes here too soon to use for now.

Any interest in a snowshoe group run?

On 12 February 2022, we expanded our winter event offerings by hosting the Snowshoe Hare. The Snowshoe Hare was a celebration of snowshoeing in the Keweenaw. As a themed event, … Continue reading "2022 Snowshoe Hare – Recap"

One of the goals of Swedetown Running Club is to create running routes at Swedetown and our other local trail systems that are easy to follow and allow more people to get out and feel confident on the trails. Having a group run each month is our way of showcasing our local trail systems while helping us all to explore areas we may not be as familiar with.

Thank you to everyone who came out today and enjoyed the fall color tour on the Covered Drive. 9 runners + 2 awesome running doggies = color tour success! 🍁☀️🏃‍♀️🏃🐕‍🦺

October Color Tour 10k! Here's your challenge: run the Covered Drive out and back and enjoy the fall foliage before it all drops. Easy peasy! The real challenge is how many leaves can you catch without breaking stride?

We're planning a group run of this route Sunday at 1p. All paces and abilities welcome! This route is very family friendly, kids and bikes welcome.
DM if you need directions. We'll meet at the top of Covered Drive at the corner of Coles Creek and Larson Rd.
** This is peak tourist season for the covered drive. Expect much more traffic than usual (with the usual being 1-3 vehicles in a 6 mile run 😆).

Welcome back from your holiday weekend. I'm sure you got outside, maybe even raced? Did we see you at ? The 10k there was great fun.

Here is the first monthly challenge route in gpx format. An 8k singletrack run. You have all of this month to run it solo and post up your time. We use Strava and garmin connect as well and have already made a 'segment' of the route for easy comparisons.

https://www.strava.com/routes/2870326620669486688

We will have a group run/informal 'race' day later in the month, but haven't yet set a date. More info asap on that.

For those who don't use gps here is a written explanation of the route-

Start and finish in the Swedetown parking lot at the lightpole near the chalet and tubing hill.

Follow all of Applesauce trail and then continue onto Southside (if you aren't familiar with the mtb trails this is an easy transition as the trails feed right into one another). The entrance to Applesauce can be found to the left of the main trail map sign, check that map briefly during your warmup)

Southside dumps you onto ski trail, do not continue straight onto Farmer's well but instead turn right on the ski trail and proceed 150 meters or so to the warming shed/trail map.

Proceed straight onto Backcountry trail and follow Backcountry trail signage all the way back to the parking lot, angle to the right and finish at the lightpole in front of the chalet/top of tubing hill.

Swedetown 8k is a 4.7 mi Road Cycling Route created by Cyclocarbon D. on September 7, 2021. It has a maximum elevation gain of 68 meters. Sign up for Strava to save this route and share it with your friends.
