Thirty years ago today, as the Swarthmore Bulletin wrote, “Down on the courts, sun and pressure join forces to create a penetrating, relentless heat. Suddenly a player bellows, ‘All right, yes!’ and thrusts his racket upward like a weapon. Triumph is a point won, an opponent outsmarted.” Triumph, indeed: Swarthmore wins its fourth NCAA Championship on May 16, 1990, in front of a fantastic home crowd at the Faulkner Courts.
