The life of a hooked fisherman

Fishing and the outdoors are my life . Growing up even as a very small boy i was always fascinated with the outdoors and especially the water and what lurked beneath . I would always catch myself spending every waking minute by the water especially in the summers at my grandparents lake house .

When i started fishing i would use a worm and a bobber i was the biggest pain because all day i would cast to the bluegill and catch them over and over all day long so someone would have to bait my hook all day, after my grandfather had enough he put a rubber worm on my hook to slow my use of bait but it never slowed my love of fishing and my love grew for artifical lures . When your a child all you have is what you can get someone else to buy for you when we went to the tackle shop i would look at every bait on the shelf and say how many fish i would catch if i had them , every once in a while my mother or my grandfather would buy me one but i wanted them all.

I loved art growing up , i always drew pictures of scenery or animals its what i did when i was away form the lake and water . I’ve continued both passion over the years when i was young we fished for Bass , Bluegill , Crappie , Perch , and Northern pike and the lures we used were normally those standard colors or patterns of the forage fish or insects or frogs. where i live now west of Toledo , Ohio and north of the Maumee river Walleye and Saugeye are my main target fish and the way that i paint is really directed right at them . the bright patterns that cover the majority of my baits have come from years of fishing lake Erie’s western Basin and all up and down the Maumee river . the spring time we chase the walleye with a Carolina rig a bright colored 2” twister tails from pinks and purples to yellow and even dark colors like black and blue . The colors that we use on Erie and the inland reservoirs are no different and i try to paint things that bring those combinations of colors together to make something they cant resist .

i really love painting baits for fishermen and women and the fish , i greatly appreciate all the buisness i receive and the great words when someone uses one of my baits and catches some great fish . Keep your passions alive and enjoy your time on the water with family and friends and continue to pass fishing down .
