Lee Black was a member of the Swansea High School Class of 1987. A tremendous student-athlete, he earned All-Region honors in both football and baseball while excelling in the classroom as the class Salutatorian. Black continued his academic and athletic career by playing baseball at Anderson Junior College and Furman University. Coach Black began his teaching and coaching career in 1991. In 1996, he was involved in a life-altering automobile accident. After recovering from his injuries, he returned to Swansea High School, where he spent the next 27 years serving as a volunteer teaching assistant in the weight room and coaching on the football and baseball fields. Coach Black's quick wit, positive spirit, and unwavering passion for Swansea athletics left a lasting impact on countless students, athletes, coaches, and members of the community. He also became a familiar sight to everyone traveling along Highway 321, faithfully walking each day in his Swansea athletic gear and offering a friendly wave to every passing car—a simple gesture that reflected his enduring love for his school, his community, and the Tiger family.
