We want to address the concerns surrounding the recent incident during league play.
First and foremost, racism, racial stereotypes, and discriminatory remarks of any kind are absolutely unacceptable in this league and will never be tolerated. Our league is made up of players from many different ethnicities, backgrounds, creeds, and sexual orientations, and we are committed to providing an environment where every player is treated with respect.
To clarify, the game forfeiture was completely unrelated to the racial comments that were made. The forfeiture was issued solely because an unregistered player participated in the game, which is a direct violation of established league rules and policies.
The racial comments made by the opposing player were addressed separately and taken extremely seriously by the board. Immediately following the forfeiture ruling, the board conducted an on-field determination regarding the conduct issue and issued an immediate three-game suspension to the player involved pending further review.
The racial comments and disciplinary actions were discussed directly with the captains of both teams to ensure there was a clear understanding that this type of behavior is considered an egregious violation of league standards and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Additionally, the board is already scheduling a special standalone meeting to discuss further disciplinary action, including the possibility of a permanent ban from the league. Both captains and the player involved will be informed of any additional disciplinary action taken.
We sincerely apologize to everyone affected by this situation. No player should ever feel targeted, unwelcome, or discriminated against while participating in our league. We remain committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment for everyone involved.
