Where has Ben Weeks Bonanza Pilot been, you ask (I’m sure no one but my Dad was actually asking that)?
Well, life got a bit chaotic over the last 3 months. My former fiancée, now wife, experienced a terrible horse-riding accident one month before our wedding. We graduated on May 7th with a Bachelor of Science degree and got married on May 8th.
As one does when they get a Pre-Medicine degree, Holly and I applied to medical school. She was accepted almost immediately to Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Joplin, Missouri, but I was not so fortunate. Through an almost miraculous turn of events, I was granted an interview there and placed on a waitlist. I simmered on the waitlist for over 2 months before being offered a position last Monday.
As wonderful as the last month had been in terms of our future careers in medicine, my future as Ben Weeks Bonanza Pilot is not quite as promising. I still have not been able to complete my checkride, thanks to a series of events that have been largely out of my control. The likelihood that I will have my PPL before starting medical school is almost 0.
I have no intention of giving up flying, and I would love to continue to make YouTube videos, but for the next 4 years, my focus will be exclusively on medical school. Hopefully this is not goodbye, it is merely a see you later.
As my last aviation act before beginning the medical school grind, and weather permitting, I am hoping to attend the Bonanza fly-in at Gastons this Saturday with my Dad. If you are able to make it, it would be cool to meet some of you in person.
Thanks for all of the support over the last couple years! As always: Clear skies!
