🏀 SUMMER COMPLETE… THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN LAID! 🐅💛🖤
The Swainsboro Lady Tigers officially wrapped up an unforgettable summer this weekend at the University of South Carolina during the Dawn Staley Team Camp.
What an incredible experience it was for our program!
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was our Lady Tigers getting the opportunity to meet the legendary Dawn Staley. To meet one of the greatest coaches in the history of women’s basketball and experience the championship culture she has built at South Carolina is something these young ladies will remember for a lifetime.
Competing in the Upper Division, our varsity squad faced some of the top programs from South Carolina and Florida.
Team Camp Results
* Beat Aiken HS (SC): 28-20
* Lost to Byrnes HS (SC): 29-26
* Lost to Westside HS (SC): 41-14
* Lost to Crestview HS (FL): 20-16

Our Lady Tigers went toe-to-toe with programs from 5A through 8A classifications, many of whom were state champions, state runners-up, or Final Four teams in their respective states. Every game challenged us, every possession demanded our best, and by the end of the weekend one thing was certain…
People know who Swainsboro is now.
Several coaches and players complimented our toughness, hustle, and defensive intensity. They learned quickly that the Lady Tigers don’t back down from anybody.
One of the best compliments we received came from a Georgia Southern women’s basketball player, who said:
“Your hustle and defense is unmatched when you play hard and play together.”
That speaks volumes about who we are as a program.
This summer was never just about wins and losses—it was about growth.
Over the last three weeks, these young ladies competed in more than 35 games, including an incredible 14 games this week alone. They played through fatigue, battled some of the best competition in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, and continued to compete with heart every time they stepped on the floor.
Yes, many of our losses came against elite contenders, but those are the games that make championship teams better.
Now we know exactly where our focus must be:
* Improve our fundamentals.
* Sharpen our ball handling.
* Dominate the boards through rebounding and boxing out.
* Become more consistent from the free throw line and mid-range.
* Continue building our conditioning.
* Keep trusting one another and playing together.
We know our region will once again be one of the toughest in Georgia. That’s exactly why we challenged ourselves this summer against elite competition. Iron sharpens iron, and we believe these experiences have prepared us for what’s ahead.
To our Lady Tigers: Be proud of what you’ve accomplished. We know you’re tired. Playing 14 games in one week and more than 35 games in just three weeks is no small feat. Every mile traveled, every practice, and every game has made this team stronger.
Now it’s time to get back in the lab.
The work doesn’t stop here.
