SUHS Rifle Team

SUHS Rifle Team SUHS rifle team has been representing this area for 20 years, and is one of the most competitive rifle teams in the nation.

The SUHS rifle team is made up of precision and sporter shooters in the Yuba-Sutter area. The team consists of students from Sutter Union High School and Sutter Buttes 4-H. The team participates in many local matches as well as national matches. Many shooters have been invited to the Junior Olympics at the Olympic Training Centers. In the past many shooters have gone on to be NCAA Rifle Athletes.

The Rifle team also was the first sports team at SUHS to produce an All- American. In 2008 Andy Hickey became an All-American in both International Air Rifle and .22 Rifle.

Over that last week we had a total of 5 athletes compete in the Junior Olympics in Alabama for both smallbore and air rifle. They all did so great with a couple shooting their personal best or tying with their personal best. They all shot very consistently and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this young team. Great job team!

We're proud to have USA Shooting at our park for the smallbore portion of the competition as well as at our air range within the Judith Legerski CMP Competition Center in nearby Anniston for air rifle, April 8-13.

The Junior Olympic Championships are among the most competitive junior events in the country and a critical part of USA Shooting’s athlete development pipeline – helping them to gain valuable experience as they pursue opportunities to represent Team USA on the international stage.

Our club hosted a match on Saturday. 30 shot 3 position smallbore and 40 shot standing air rifle. Getting ready for Junior Olympics. 1st place went to Eva Carbajal with combined 694.5, 2nd place to Katie Dickson with combined 688.3 and 3rd to Louie Fresquez with combined 685.1. Great job everyone!
