How Can You Improve Your Eye-Hand Speed in Pickleball?

Most pickleball players think fast hands are something you’re born with. The truth is that eye-hand speed can be trained and improved.

If you want to win more hand battles at the kitchen line, react faster to speed-ups, and feel more confident during fast exchanges, focus on these simple habits:

✅ Track the ball all the way to your paddle
✅ Keep your swing compact and efficient
✅ React to what you see instead of guessing
✅ Use purposeful drills that challenge your reflexes
✅ Gradually increase the speed of practice sessions
✅ Focus on control and accuracy, not just speed
✅ Improve your footwork and balance
✅ Play often and expose yourself to faster players

The players with the quickest hands aren’t always the most athletic. They’re usually the players who have trained their eyes, feet, and paddle to work together efficiently.

What’s the BEST drill or tip that helped improve YOUR hand speed? What do you do to get faster at the kitchen line? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Playing With a Weaker Player? Here’s the REAL Secret…

The best pickleball players know something important…

Not every game is about domination.

If you’re paired with a weaker player:
• Keep the rallies alive
• Encourage good shots
• Avoid unnecessary frustration
• Play smart, controlled pickleball
• Help build confidence instead of tearing it down

Ironically, players who can successfully adjust to different skill levels usually become the strongest overall players long term.

Question for everyone:
When you play with a weaker player, what approach do YOU take to keep the match competitive and fun?

WHY DO SO MANY BEGINNER & SOCIAL PLAYERS STAY AT THE BASELINE? 🤔

As a coach, I see this over and over again. Players KNOW they should get to the kitchen line… yet they still park themselves at the backcourt line during rallies.

The problem? 👇

🏓 You immediately give up control of the point
🏓 Your angles disappear
🏓 You become the target
🏓 Your partner at the kitchen becomes almost useless because opponents will simply keep attacking the player staying back

In pickleball, the team controlling the kitchen controls the game. Staying back puts enormous pressure on both you and your partner.

Question for everyone:
Why do you think so many social players still hesitate to move up to the kitchen line? Fear of getting hit? Comfort zone? Lack of confidence? Bad habits?

🔥 IS TARGETING THE WEAKER PLAYER FAIR STRATEGY? 🔥

Every serious pickleball player has seen it happen…
One team identifies the weaker player and keeps hitting ball after ball to them. 🎯

Some players say:
✅ Smart strategy
✅ Competitive pickleball
✅ Play to win

Others say:
❌ Poor sportsmanship
❌ Makes rec play less fun
❌ Avoids true competition

So what do YOU think? 👇

🏓 Is targeting the weaker player fair?
🏓 Do you personally use that strategy?
🏓 Does your answer change in rec play vs tournament play?

Drop your thoughts in the comments — this should be interesting 😳🔥

Kitchen Confidence = Better Pickleball 🎯

Too many players give away points in the kitchen because they don’t fully understand the rules and footwork around the NVZ. The best players stay disciplined, balanced and under control at the line.

Master these 9 kitchen fundamentals and you’ll immediately cut down on faults, improve resets and win more hands battles.

Which kitchen rule do you see violated the most during rec play? 👀👇

🔥 ARE YOU REALLY WARMED UP BEFORE YOU PLAY? 🔥

Too many pickleball players jump right into games cold… then wonder why they feel tight, slow, or sore afterward. A proper warm-up can improve movement, reaction time, balance, and help reduce injuries on the court.

Here are 5 simple warm-up exercises every player should be doing before stepping on the court:
✅ Shoulder Shrugs
✅ Hamstring Stretches
✅ Lunges
✅ Light Jogging
✅ Arm Swings

At Quest Pickleball, we believe better preparation leads to better play. 💪🏓
