♟️ CHESS SESSIONS ARE COMING TO GRACIE JIU-JITSU SURPRISE / S.E.T. MARTIAL ARTS!

We’re excited to host two chess sessions this month, with our first one happening Saturday, September 12th from 1:30–3:30 PM!

♟️ Open to all ages and skill levels!

We’re also looking for volunteers to help make these sessions possible. You don’t have to know how to play chess—chaperones and general helpers are just as important!

If we get enough volunteers, we may even be able to put together a fun chess tournament!

More than Jiu-Jitsu. This is community.

During a free-play session, one of our students pulled out a violin and started playing. Within moments, the kids gathered around, took a seat on the mat, something pretty special happened.

These are the moments we love at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Surprise. The friendships, encouragement, shared interests, and sense of belonging that grow here matter just as much as what happens during class.

And for our homeschool families, this is one of the things we love most about our daytime classes: an opportunity for kids to learn, move, connect, and build friendships together.

HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM UPDATE!

We have some exciting changes coming to our Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Surprise homeschool program!

Starting September 16, our Little Champs & Jr. Grapplers will have separate homeschool classes on Wednesdays & Fridays!

This change will allow our instructors to better tailor each class to the students’ age group, while giving everyone more focused instruction, activities, and challenges.

And there’s more! We’re also adding a SECOND Free-Play time each week for our homeschool families!

We’ll also be introducing more activities outside of Jiu-Jitsu, including:
♟️ Group Chess
🎤 Family Karaoke
🤖 STEM Engineering & Robotics with Coach Don

IMPORTANT: Nothing changes until September 16!

Want siblings to train together? Our combined classes will still be available:

MONDAY — 10:30 AM
SATURDAY — 10:00 AM

We’ll be sending out the complete updated schedule within the next 24 hours!

IT’S TODAY!

S.E.T. Martial Arts Karate Grading and Mini Tournament is happening today, Saturday, August 29th, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.

Schedule:
1:30–2:15 PM — Grading
2:15–3:20 PM — Mini Tournament for participants (for fun)
3:20–3:30 PM — Clean-up

We’re excited to see everyone come out, put their skills to the test, and have some fun. Good luck to everyone participating in today’s grading!

It is time to wrap up our Citizenship Chapter and celebrate with another Gracie Game Day!

Gracie Game Day Jr. Edition (Mat Munchkins) is from 5:00-5:45pm. Parents are expected to be on the mat with their littles, just like in class!

Gracie Game Day for the Little Champs and Junior Grapplers is from 6:00-8:00pm. Please have your child/ren bring water, their Gi (rashguard and Gi pants are okay), and their Citizenship sheets with their name at the top and the total amount of points they have earned!

Please be sure to let us know if your child/ren are planning on being here tonight. You can text Coach Don or let either Coach Don or Coach Raine know today during class!
