Remembering Jim “Cheech” Mauro ❤️🐉
Some people leave an impression on you, and then there are people like Jim “Cheech” Mauro who leave behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will be told for years to come.
Cheech was part of the earlier days of Smoke on the Water, and if you knew him, you knew he was always fun to have around. He had a way of making people laugh, bringing energy to the team, and turning an ordinary day into a memory.
Of course, we can’t talk about Cheech and Dragon Boat without remembering his famous interview where he so perfectly summed up the experience: “Dragon boating was a big party interrupted by 2 minutes of stupidity.” 😂 And honestly… Cheech may have been onto something.
But beyond the jokes, the laughter, and the Dragon Boat memories, Cheech was a true family man. He was someone who cared deeply about the people around him and became a part of our Dragon Boat family as well.
Thank you for the laughs, the memories, and for being part of the Smoke on the Water family. Our thoughts are with Anne and their entire family during this time.
