Kalu Coletta Surfboards are hand crafted from start to finish on Oahu's North Shore by Kalu Coletta. A second-generation surfboard builder from Santa Cruz, Ca., Kalu Coletta learned the ropes from his father, Steve Coletta (Natural Curves Surfboards) at a very young age. Kalu shaped his first board at 12 years old and by the time he was 16 was making custom surfboards for his friends. Twenty years later, Kalu Coletta continues to produce high quality, custom surfboards with an emphasis on precision and performance. In an industry dominated by big brands, mass production factories and computer-shaping machines, Kalu Coletta still utilizes the art of hand-shaping with a skill 100 planer and templates that have evolved since since his father, Steve Coletta, started shaping in the mid 1960's. Kalu Coletta Surfboards has no "model names" - each Kalu Coletta Surfboard is 100% custom made for the individual.
