Imagine your boss telling you you're getting paid less for going into the office because they have everything you need to do the job there. Ridiculous right? So why would you do it to a Pilates instructor? Entitlement? Maybe.⁣

Imagine how ridiculous it is when you want an at home session for less than our in studio rate because you have a reformer at your home.⁣
⁣
Instructors should be charging you more than their in studio rate for at at home session. Your convenience isn't convenient for us. Period. ⁣
⁣
Asking us to work for less because you have a reformer at home is insulting.⁣
⁣

This one is worth the main grid. Checked in on the accessory nerve and the left side was like no thank you. That's the first picture with the lower shoulder during a very on purpose shoulder shrug. Worked on some other cranial nerve stuff and at the end of the session there was much more evenness and as a perk of all the other things we did less jaw tension.

Wanting to do things isn't necessarily about ego. It can be wanting to feel included. Just because someone can't do an exercise in the truest form of Pilates doesn't mean someone should never try the exercise in a way that means they can.⁣

There's a lot of ideas about what Pilates does and doesn't do and how it will make you look and 🙄 I hate that s**t. People are preying on your insecurities and selling you a solution to a problem they have created. Pilates does not care about what you look like. You can start and be successful whenever you are because Pilates isn't just the most showboating exercises that look good on social media.⁣⁣

If that resonates with you, I am accepting limited students for classes but fair warning - I am not for everyone especially if you think a visible 6 pack is the only qualification an instructor needs.⁣⁣

I am the instructor for you if you want to get to know how to work with your body instead of against it. I am the instructor for you if you want to move slow before you move fast.⁣⁣

I am proud of how my studio is a welcome place for those who don't need matching sets and matcha (but you can totally wear them and drink matcha if you want). where we practice pilates without any of the bulls**t. where you can be you and I can be me. where we laugh and learn and gather in community. where we meet ourselves where we are on any given day. that's my signature method - we don't need to be a shallow reflection of ideas about how we should be because we are already ideal.
