As Plato figured out a long time ago, the mind and body are all together connected. Although many have labeled the brain the control center, at FP we have found that movement influences they way we think and feel. Studies have shown that engaging in physical activity can be beneficial in many area of health. We all know though, that’s if you’re actually moving in a way that encourages your biological blueprint not diminish it. As we unroll MAW (Movement Awareness Week) we would like to make a sure you are all able to move and function pain free and in ways that apply to what it means to be human. We are offering $100 off our FTS (Functional Training System) with discount code “MOVEMENT”.

Shadow Boxing can be overlooked or avoided. Just because it feels “nicer” and more fulfilling to make full impact on an object - heavy bag or what have you. But it’s a great way to hold yourself accountable to your body and feel/visualize what you would do in a fight.

This clip is my most recent video and just wanted to put it up to hold myself accountable on my timeline of work. I still have plenty of room for improvement but from the last clip I’ve recorded to this one I feel and could see my balance tensegrity holding much better.

As always I just gotta spar to test if what I’m working on has benefited me or impeded my growth. If you guys are in need of sparring partners hit me up, I’m more than willing to step in the ring for a learning experience for both parties 🧠🧩🥊✊🏽.

To teach someone to box is no easy task. So I admire the coaches that have taken the time to either step in the ring themselves or actually study and breakdown the sweet science for their fighters. It takes tough skin in the game and many hours of studying other boxers body’s and how they move. Boxing itself is a beautiful science because it’s all about behaviors and habits. If you’re good at watching and observing people, in the ring, they’ll tell you what they’ll be doing next. It’s up to you to be ready and capitalize if you were observant enough. The beauty is that with the right team you have many eyes helping you see these “missing links” you may have had.

People want to learn to box for many different reasons. I get it. But ultimately you gotta want to step in there and take a punch or give a punch. That’s the real test. The real accomplishment between the relationship you’ve built with your body and coach. That’s the opportunity to expose your growth or your lack of focus in certain places. There’s no time frame either, it could take 1 month before you say “I’m down to step in the ring” or it could take 10 years - I hope it’s sooner than that - but that’s real, so long as in the back of your mind while you’re training your foot work or hitting the bag you’re thinking that someone sometime will be punching your face. What will you do when that time comes?

Many can have opinions of what your doing or how your going about doing it. Some may have gone a similar road. And Many, won’t even have an idea of what it actually took to get there, all they have is their perspective - as do you.

In order to make a perspective you actually “believe,” you actually have to go through the work and time it takes. Be able to work in silence and be patient. The actual test or truth will come out in these moments, the vulnerable ones.

When you’re willing to put all your work to be exposed. To see if the process you went through was one that produced the results you were seeking (winning or losing doesn’t decide on your results either).
