Re: Pool
The response to my email last night was, frankly, overwhelming. I appreciate both your observations and suggestions. The two suggestions that were mentioned over and over were: 1.) Safety; 200 people in our pool is too many especially under the current pandemic conditions, and 2.) We want to swim with our friends; i.e., get rid of the idea of grouping people together by the first letter in the primary members last name.
Given those thoughts, I am going to make the following changes to yesterday’s memo:
1.) Reduce the maximum capacity to 175. In an attempt to satisfy everyone, I lost sight of the more important issue of our health and safety. The reality is that 200 people at one time at our pool is a large crowd and makes it too hard for us to monitor social distancing.
2.) Monday-Friday we will have two sessions: 11:00am-3:00pm and 3:30pm-8:00pm. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays we will also have two sessions: 10:00am-3:00pm and 3:30pm-8:00pm
3.) We will have an on-line reservations system in place by Thursday night. Each member will need to create their own login and password in order to access the system. If our capacity level has been reached in one of the sessions it will let you know and then give you the opportunity to reserve a time in the other session that day if one is available. We would prefer that all reservations be made 24 hours in advance of the desired day. We will send more detailed information on how the reservation system works tomorrow.
4.) Refunds: For those pool-only members who would like a refund of their membership, we will honor your request at 90% of what you paid for your membership. You must apply for the refund by this coming Sunday, June 7 when the pool closes at 8:00 pm. After Sunday night, no refund request will be honored.
5.) Subsidy: We are a privately owned golf club operating a pool for our members, which is now surrounded by multiple housing developments. We are happy to be part of such a flourishing neighborhood, but pool members should be aware that we do not receive any funding or subsidy from the NorthStar Community.
Once again, thank you for your patience and helpful suggestions.
