🛵 Lane Filtering in Arizona: What You Should Know

Did you know? Arizona law allows lane filtering for motorcycles, but only under specific conditions.

This isn’t the same as lane splitting. Lane filtering happens when motorcycles carefully move between stopped vehicles at intersections. It helps reduce the risk of rear-end collisions, one of the most common dangers motorcyclists face in traffic.

For Drivers 🚗
• If traffic is stopped, expect motorcycles to move forward between lanes.
• Always check your mirrors and blind spots before making a move.
• Give motorcycles space: lane filtering is legal and helps prevent crashes.

For Riders 🏍️
• Only filter when traffic is completely stopped and speeds are low (45 mph or less zone).
• Be visible, predictable, and avoid sudden movements.
• Stay alert: not all drivers are aware that lane filtering is legal.
• Filter at speeds of 15 mph or less and filter only in roads with 2+ lanes in the same direction.

At the end of the day, road safety depends on all of us. Let’s watch out for one another and make sure everyone gets home safe.

International Female Rider Day is coming up May 2nd!

Founded by Canadian biker chic Vicki Gray in 2007, this global movement started to spotlight the growing presence of women in motorcycling. Its motto says it best: “Just Ride.”

The celebration has helped reshape the public image of motorcycling by highlighting female participation in what was traditionally viewed as a male-dominated activity.

In 2007, women made up about 10% of riders. Today, we’re pushing 20%… and rising.

We’ve basically doubled female ridership in a little over a decade. That’s not a trend… that’s a shift.

I’ll be out supporting the Arrowhead Harley-Davidson dynamic duo, Ronda and Mandi Ride.
