ASGK has officially moved its hombu dojo to Ruskin, Florida. Look for the announcement for the opening of a new dojo in the Houston, TX area in the near future.

Today marks the end of classes at the Round Rock, TX location. I will continue with private lessons for my current students but cannot accept any new students. On the upside, my students in Florida will soon get more of my time.

Taught Nandansho kata to my black belts today. First time teaching it. My memory is not what it used to be. I first learned it in 1983 from Dr. Charles Bridgewater Hanshi. Thank God for Slonski Hanshi's video.

Nice 2-hour outdoor class today. Weather was great! Spent time on bo, jo, tonfa, sai, k**a, and nunchakun. Most was a review but some new stuff too. More to come on Tuesday.

Hanshi Slonski and I are very proud to announce the promotion of Tony Gussman to Shodan in Shorei-ryu and American Shorei-Goju Karatedo today. Tony is the first of my students (excluding previous black belts) to reach Shodan in 3 years. Tony watched his son for many years and was ahead of the game when he started his formal training with me. He has been a consistent kata winner in the Texas AOK circuit, including taking Texas State runner up in the brown belt division when he was just a 7th kyu. He most recently won a black belt division, and by rule, he can no longer compete as a kyu. So now he gets to compete in my division or his son's.

Congratulations Tony. Your hard work, dedication, and consistent work outside the dojo made this possible!
