I know I had this uphill battle with my rec. team players this season and the same with my allstars too. It’s a normal misconception for the age group. I knew what they were thinking, and I told them that I understood why they had the thoughts of being just “filling in spots left over”. Then as the competition progresses at higher levels, my players in the outfield started seeing just how often they were the line of defense needed to prevent the extra bases earned and runs prevented when they did their job as I knew they were capable of doing. If a coach puts you in the outfield it’s not bc he thinks you suck, it’s bc he TRUSTS you. It’s bc he KNOWS you’re fast, ATHLETIC, has a GREAT arm, and can track a ball. If a ball gets past an infielder you’re looking at maybe 1 extra base, but if it gets past the outfielder you’re looking at runs scored. OUTFIELDERS ARE IMPORTANT! Sometimes their position is more important than any infield position. As parents, some have to quit acting like outfield is a punishment or a filler position. Outfielders get scholarships too.

From watching your kid learn how to manage the ups and downs of big, emotional tournament games - and learning as a parent to get yours in check during them, too.

To bonding with fellow team parents on the bleachers or at restaurants between tournament games - and cheering on their kids like they're you're own.

To being so proud of sports siblings who show up at allill the games - and going broke at concession stands as they do.

To watching a group of kids find their groove as individuals - and learn to bond as a team.

Here's to all the memories made and lessons learned this summer out on the diamond, in the dugout and out on the bleachers.

And here's to these kids getting to do what they love...and to us simply loving them while they do.

Thank you SUMRALL 6U ALLSTARS for coaching me first this season, and in return putting your trust in me, and allowing me to coach you. I just hope that I can continue to make a positive impact on each one of you every time we meet up at the diamond. Load hard, stride hard, swing hard, run hard, throw hard, play hard, BALL HARD! ⚾️

While there is time this morning before getting things gathered together to head back to The Yards in Columbia, all of us with the SUMRALL 6U ALLSTAR team and family want to give an enormous thank you to a few businesses that made a big impact on every player on this team. These companies were not required to step up to the plate, but were caring and generous enough to volunteer themselves towards helping make this 2023 season bigger than these boys could have ever expected through voluntary sponsorships! As the teams Manager/Coach, I always want to make the kind of impact on these players that will keep them looking forward to that next time they get to show up with cleats on and step out onto the diamond. Baseball can provide many things in life that one may not get an opportunity with if they were not involved. Baseball provides friendships, experiences, and definitely life lessons that I can guarantee would be missed if not involved. The following businesses stepped up and provided one of those examples of care and support to the baseball community in SUMRALL, and it makes me extremely proud to know the impact it’s made on this team!

Last weekend at The Rumble in Columbia Tournament, the bats were hot, but Weston Lowery’s bat was SCORCHING 🥵 🔥 going 10 for 10 when 2023 Sumrall 6U Allstars called it a day at the park…

Last night’s game there were FIVE allstars who were giving Columbia 6U Allstars plenty of trouble every visit they had to the plate 🤨

Going all in at the plate, having a perfect night swinging the stick and getting on base forThe Bobcats, we’re Allstars:

Jaxson Gentry (3 for 3, 4 RBI)
Simon Williamson (3 for 3)
Cooper Molina (3 for 3)
Keagan Hobgood (3 for 3)
Rowan Parker (2 for 2)

This evening @ 6:00 PM, Sumrall 6U Allstars face off against Poplarville, with the winner advancing and the other team being eliminated from the 2023 tournament.

Last night, Sumrall 6U Allstars fell behind Columbia later on in the games 4th inning allowing an 8 run difference. The score of 18-10 became mathematically impossible to recover by the 6th inning, and the game was called.

SUMRALL 6U AllSTARS are set to play at 6:00pm FRIDAY, 6/23. ⚾️
