Thank you all for coming out to our final Summit Point race of the season! We had our best turnout of the year and put on some incredible racing across both days. ๐Ÿ

The season points standings have now been updated with points through Round 8. As a reminder, this season will feature 3 drop rounds, meaning your best 7 out of 10 scores will count toward the championship. This is already reflected in the updated standings.

Points can be viewed through the Alpha RaceHub app or on our website under the Standings tab.

๐Ÿ† SEASON-ENDING AWARDS ๐Ÿ†

As another reminder, to be eligible for season-ending championship awards, you must:

โ€ข Have raced in at least 5 rounds of the championship
โ€ข Be a Capital Karting Challenge member by September 23rd, 2026

That deadline is now just a little over a week away!

We will be awarding championship trophies to the Top 3 finishers in every class who meet both requirements. The exception is our LO206 Junior class, which has seen outstanding entry numbers all season long and will receive awards for the Top 5 championship finishers.

Round 7 saw almost 50 competitors take the track and produce some of the most exciting racing of the season in a handful of classes.

Tentative weekend schedule for Rounds 7-8 at the Washington Circuit. As always classes might be combined or separated depending on entry counts.

The paddock will open tonight around 6pm to allow those arriving tonight to get setup. Summit Point has a 24 hour gate so anytime after that you will be able to get in the paddock. As a reminder starting tomorrow you will need to purchase a pit pass to be on the property a drivers pit pass is included in the entry fee but any additional family/crew will need to purchase a non-driver pit pass from registration.

Entry counts continue to rise hope to see eveyone there as we setup for a good final event at Summit Point for the year!

Thatโ€™s right โ€” weโ€™re just a couple of days away from Rounds 7-8 of the inaugural season of the Capital Karting Challenge!

Pre-entry numbers are looking to be the best weโ€™ve seen all year, so you definitely wonโ€™t want to miss this one. Several classes are on pace for record turnouts, including LO206 Junior, LO206 Sportsman, and KA 100 Junior, while 206 Senior, 206 Heavy, Kid-Kart, Cadet, and KA Senior are all shaping up to have strong fields.

As we pass the halfway point of the season, letโ€™s take a look at some of the close championship battles shaping up. With Rounds 7/8 coming up this weekend, could we see another shakeup in the standings, or will those out front hold onto their leads heading into the final rounds at United Karting in October?

Itโ€™s almost race week!! The final chance to run karts at Summit Point this year is almost upon us.

This event will also feature a brand new layout so you wonโ€™t want to miss it. Registration remains open on the alpha timing website or find the link through our website. EXCITING NEWS!!

Rounds 7-8 of the 2026 Capital Karting Challenge are coming up in a little under 2 weeks. For the first time we will be running an alternate Layout for the Summit Point Washington Circuit. This new layout is a little longer and features a new hairpin corner which should increase passing opportunities in all classes. This layout is brand new and should put everyone on an even playing field whether youโ€™ve raced the whole season or planning on coming to your first event.

Registration is now open on Alpha linked below or go to the Capital Karting Challenge Website and get pre-entered. Detailed schedule will be posted in the coming days but Friday parking will be available as always. Hope to see everyone come out to our last event at Summit Point for the year!

With the completion of Rounds 5 and 6, we have officially crossed the midpoint of our 2026
season. Our final event at the Washington Circuit is now less than three weeks away, taking
place September 12โ€“13. The season will then conclude in October with Rounds 9 and 10 at
United Karting in Hanover, Maryland, on October 17โ€“18.

Our season points standings have been updated following the August doubleheader, and
several close championship battles are beginning to take shape. With three drop rounds
available, there is still plenty of opportunity for the standings to change. It will all come down to
the final race weekend in October to determine who will be crowned the inaugural Capital
Karting Challenge champions.

As we discuss the championship points, and in an effort to provide full transparency, we feel it is
important to address what happened during our August doubleheader event.

As some of you may already be aware, our doubleheader event on August 8 was affected by
several factors outside of our control. During the 2-Cycle Final for Round 5, the track shut down
due to lightning in the area. The lightning persisted until approximately 5:00 PM, and as we
were preparing to restart the remainder of our program, we were informed that our shared ALS
ambulance had been instructed to leave early after the Race Car Club we were working with
ended its event for the day.

Without the required ALS coverage, we were unable to continue the program. Unfortunately, this

meant we could not complete the Sportsman and Cadet Finals for Round 5 or any of the Round
6 Finals.

We sincerely apologize for how the situation played out and are extremely disappointed that we

were unable to complete the full program. We are already exploring alternative options for 2027
to help ensure that a situation like this does not happen again.

For Round 5, Sportsman and Cadet points were awarded based on the Pre-Final results, as this
was the last completed race session for those classes.

For Round 6 points, we explored several different options and ultimately decided that the fairest
solution was to recognize the racers and competitors who showed up to the track and paid their entry fees, rather than simply canceling the round. Every driver registered for Round 6 received Cancellation Points.

Under our points system, if a round is unable to progress past qualifying for any reason, all
registered drivers receive first-place points.

While Round 6 progressed beyond qualifying, we
felt applying the Cancellation Points rule was the fairest and most consistent solution for
everyone affected by the cancellation.

All current championship point standings can be viewed on the Capital Karting Challenge
website or on the Alpha Race Results website under Capital Karting Challenge.

As mentioned earlier, Rounds 7 and 8 are coming up fast. Be on the lookout for a special
announcement coming soon regarding this upcoming event, with pre-registration opening
shortly.

Again, we want to thank everyone who has supported the Capital Karting Challenge during our first season. We look forward to two strong events as we close out an exciting inaugural year
and crown our first-ever series champions.

The track is ready are youโ€ฆ Rounds 5/6 of the inaugural Capital Karting Challenge kick off tomorrow Summit Point Motorsports Park.
