City of Summerville Celebrates New MUSCO Sports Lighting at Summerville and Fairway Ballfields

The City of Summerville recently celebrated the completion of a major park enhancement with the installation of new MUSCO Sports Lighting at the Summerville and Fairway Ballfields.

The new lighting system represents a significant investment of approximately $735,000 in the City's recreational facilities and will provide improved visibility, safety, energy efficiency, and an enhanced experience for athletes, coaches, families, and spectators who utilize the ballfields.

The new lights were celebrated during a recent ceremony held at the ballfields during Summer League Baseball games. Mayor Rickey Hughes recognized and thanked the individuals and organizations whose leadership, support, and contributions helped make the project possible.

“This is a tremendous investment in our parks, our youth, and our community,” said Mayor Rickey Hughes. “These new MUSCO lights will allow our ballfields to be used more effectively and provide our athletes and families with a first-class recreational experience. I want to thank everyone who played a role in bringing this project to Summerville.”

Mayor Hughes specifically recognized the Summerville City Council Members for their support and commitment to improving the City's recreational facilities:

The Mayor also recognized City Manager Jason Winters for his leadership and assistance throughout the project.

The City also expressed its appreciation to the project partners and representatives who contributed to the successful completion of the lighting improvements, including:

The new MUSCO lighting system is another significant improvement to the City's athletic infrastructure and builds upon Summerville's ongoing efforts to provide quality recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

Parks and Recreation Director Adam Wilson said the project will have a lasting impact on the City's athletic programs.

“Quality facilities are essential to the continued growth of our recreation programs,” said Wilson. “The new MUSCO lighting will make a tremendous difference for our baseball and softball programs and for everyone who uses these fields. We appreciate the City Council, Mayor Hughes, City Manager Winters, our project partners, and our Parks and Recreation staff for helping make this investment possible.”

The lighting improvements will benefit Baseball and Softball league play, youth recreation programs, tournaments, community events, and other activities hosted at Summerville and Fairway Recreation Facilities.

The City of Summerville remains committed to investing in its parks and recreational facilities and creating safe, modern, and high-quality facilities where children, families, and the entire community can play, compete, and enjoy time together.
