On September 30th, the FCC deleted the license for KEZM. A station is allowed to remain silent for 1 year, and we simply could not satisfy FCC rules to be allowed to return to the air.
There are so many people I would like to thank for allowing me to live my dream of owning a radio station. My family, mother and sister for helping me get started, financially. So many wonderful people who worked for me over the years, salespeople like Kathy Soileau, Margaret Corbin, Russ Bordelon, Jon Fine, and Jessica James. Board ops like Duane Bergeron, Granny B, Rhonda Eaglin with her Gospel Show. We had some great local shows with some great people who cared about sports in SWLA. It was our pleasure to bring you Sulphur football and other sports. Thanks to Clopha Boudreaux and Patrick Frey for their help. It was great to be SWLA's home for the Astros and McNeese baseball and softball, thanks to Tom Hoefer and Ron Hayes.
I am sure I left out many others who helped along the way, some great engineers who kept us going when I didn't think it was possible, Mike and Matt to name a couple. And an FCC lawyer named Don who took up our fight in Washington. Mr. E J, and the Vincent family, pretty good landlords!
Thank you all!!! Bruce Merchant KEZM
