KEZM Sportsradio 1310

KEZM Sportsradio 1310 Sportsradio 1310 KEZM is currently off the air due to severe damage from Hurricane Laura. We are hoping to return as soon as possible.

On September 30th, the FCC deleted the license for KEZM. A station is allowed to remain silent for 1 year, and we simply could not satisfy FCC rules to be allowed to return to the air.

There are so many people I would like to thank for allowing me to live my dream of owning a radio station. My family, mother and sister for helping me get started, financially. So many wonderful people who worked for me over the years, salespeople like Kathy Soileau, Margaret Corbin, Russ Bordelon, Jon Fine, and Jessica James. Board ops like Duane Bergeron, Granny B, Rhonda Eaglin with her Gospel Show. We had some great local shows with some great people who cared about sports in SWLA. It was our pleasure to bring you Sulphur football and other sports. Thanks to Clopha Boudreaux and Patrick Frey for their help. It was great to be SWLA's home for the Astros and McNeese baseball and softball, thanks to Tom Hoefer and Ron Hayes.

I am sure I left out many others who helped along the way, some great engineers who kept us going when I didn't think it was possible, Mike and Matt to name a couple. And an FCC lawyer named Don who took up our fight in Washington. Mr. E J, and the Vincent family, pretty good landlords!

Thank you all!!! Bruce Merchant KEZM

Tuesday morning, Southwest Louisiana lost a great lady of the broadcasting business. Johnette Laborde passed away early on March 9th. Johnette worked for KEZM/KSNS as a radio salesperson back in the 70s, and continued with KYKZ for many years. She moved on to TV with Fox 29 till illness forced her to retire a few years ago. She was a beautiful lady and a respected member of the broadcast industry in our area. She will be missed.

Antenna salvage and clean up has begun. If you have some cheap tower space between Sulphur and Westlake, we would love to talk to you!!

Sulphur is scheduled to host Lafayette Saturday afternoon. LSU has been cancelled, so catch the Tors in their season opener!

We are currently looking at options to return to the air. Unfortunately, we may still miss the SHS football season. We are updating the Sulphur High schedule on our website, including this weeks game at Acadiana being moved to Thursday due to the threat from what may be hurricane Delta in Southeast Louisiana. SHS home games will be played on Saturday afternoons this season. Please continue to support your Golden Tornadoes!

After surveying the damage, not sure what we can do to return to the air. The antenna tower fell during the hurricane and the roof damage at the studio was major. And while the equipment is OK, and we do have 1 satellite dish that would work, we have NO permanent solution right now. Obviously, we will not have Sulphur football in October. We are very sorry for that. Like many of our neighbors, we will wait for that miracle!

Hey SWLA, like many of you, KEZM suffered a lot of damage from Laura. Lost satellite dishes, sustained studio damage, and lost our antenna tower. We will survey the damages and see if and when we can be back up, if we can at all. STAY SAFE!!!
