Today was a good day at Caney Creek. šŸ¾šŸ„

Pepper had her appointment this morning to get her stitches out and hopefully lose the cone… and good news, both happened! Stitches are out, cone is off, and she is one happy dog.

After her doctor visit, I took her out to the course, and River came out and played a round with us.

Apparently Pepper might officially be my good luck charm… because today I aced Hole 17! Not only that, but it was another skip ace with the exact same disc I aced Hole 8 with.

As far as I know, that makes ace number two at Caney Creek.

Good karma is real… and Pepper might be carrying it around with her. ā¤ļøšŸ¶šŸ„

A little Caney Creek Disc Golf course update:

Monday morning after the storms rolled through, I headed out to the course and had a pretty good cleanup session. We had a tree come down right next to Hole 4’s tee box, so that had to be cut up and cleared out. On top of that, the oaks dropped quite a few limbs, and several of them were big enough to need cutting and hauling off.

Then today (Tuesday), I went ahead and did what I normally save for Wednesday. Got the course mowed, w**d-eated all the tee boxes and greens, and blew off all the tee pads.

Right now the course is in about as good of shape as it gets. It’s looking clean, trimmed up, and ready to play.

I know there’s a tournament over at Blackberry Pines this weekend, and if any of y’all are headed that direction and want to check out something new, swing by Caney Creek and give it a whirl. We’d love to have you out.

Hope to see some folks out enjoying the course soon. šŸ„šŸŒ³

Went out and cleaned up the course today. Nothing major, just made a round, picked up a few fallen branches, and got everything looking good.

My homie Brock Cummings came out and played a round. He still holds the course record and fired off another 51 today. The man just keeps making it look easy.

It was definitely a good day to play some golf. A little warm, and after all the rain we’ve had, the humidity was sitting somewhere around 250,000%, but we still had a great time.

The course is in good shape, the woods are green, and we’re looking forward to the next round. Come on out and throw some plastic!

Well, Pepperā€˜s home and she’s not happy about the cone around her head, but the surgery went great. Everythingā€˜s great and Doc said here in about 10 days. She’ll be a normal dog. ļæ¼But we all know there is nothing normal about course dog.

Caney Creek Disc Golf Update

Wednesday’s plan was simple: get out to the course, mow, w**d eat, and keep everything looking good. Mother Nature had other ideas. I was able to get all of the mowing finished before the rain rolled in, but the rest had to wait.

This morning, I took Pepper to the vet for a big day. She had surgery scheduled to remove her tumor, repair her eye, and get spayed. If you’ve met Pepper, you know she’s worked her way into a lot of hearts in a short amount of time. We’re hoping for a smooth recovery and many happy years ahead for her.

After dropping Pepper off, I headed back out to the course and finished w**d eating around the tee pads and greens, then blew off all the tee pads to get everything cleaned up and looking sharp.

Later in the day, my buddy Lane Doughtie stopped by. He’s passing through town on his way to Arkansas for a tournament this weekend. He and a friend joined me for a round at the course, and we had a great time getting in some throws before he hit the road.

Standing out there today, watching the course come together, spending time with good friends, and knowing Pepper is getting the care she needs, it hit me:

Sometimes life is pretty simple. Just a man, his dog, and his golf course. Living the dream.

Thanks to everyone who’s checked on Pepper, offered help, and shown support for both her and the course. It means more than you know. šŸ¾šŸ„ā¤ļø

Got a few extra discs together and added them to the lost and found box as loaners for anyone who wants to come out and play but doesn’t have discs of their own. Feel free to grab a couple, enjoy your round, and just return them when you’re done so the next person can use them too.

All of the discs have ā€œCCDGā€ written on the back, so no, it’s not coming off. šŸ˜„

Just another small way to help make Caney Creek welcoming for everybody that wants to come out and sling some plastic.

And only use the ones with CCDG on them. The others are still looking for their owners.

Good things come to people that do good things.

Tuesday afternoon, as we were finishing up a round at Caney Creek, this sweet old dog wandered up to us. At first, I figured she was just roaming around, but I noticed pretty quickly that she was weak in her back legs. I gave her some food and water, and by the next day she was already walking a little better.

Thursday, I came back out and noticed white discharge coming from a tumor on her stomach, so I took her to the vet. She’s now scheduled next Thursday to have the tumor removed, along with some work on her left eye from what looks like an old injury.

I decided to name her Pepper.

She’s incredibly sweet, but she acts like she may have been abused at some point. All she really wants is love and attention. So if you’re out at the course and Pepper comes walking up to you, give her a little love. She deserves it.

Now for the wild part…

Friday morning I came out to feed her, give her antibiotics, and play a quick round with Jerry Barnett…

…and ended up getting the FIRST ACE on the course! šŸŽ‰

Hole 8. Skip ace. Absolute insanity. Woot!

Maybe Pepper brought a little good luck to Caney Creek. šŸ¾šŸ„

šŸŒ§ļø Course cleanup this morning at Caney Creek. Took about 30 minutes to make a lap around the course, pick up some freshly fallen limbs and branches from overnight, plus a few things the wild pigs had rooted up. Nothing major though. The course is looking clean and in great shape. šŸŖµšŸ—

Looks like we may get a little rain this afternoon, but if you’re planning on coming out today, the course is ready for you. Enjoy the round. šŸŒ²šŸ„

Mother Nature swept through Caney Creek last night swift and fast, dropping about an inch of rain along with some pretty strong winds. We had a few limbs come down, mostly on the front nine, but I spent about four hours out there today getting everything cut up, cleaned up, and burned out of the way.

I’m trying to stay on top of it so it doesn’t pile up on me, and the course is looking good overall. The rain also washed up a little more debris around the creek areas, so I picked all of that up as well.

Looks like I’ll probably be mowing next Wednesday if the weather cooperates. By then it should be good and due for a fresh cut.

As for the pigs, I really haven’t seen much sign of them other than a little rooting around some of the trees where old debris has been sitting for years. Thankfully they haven’t been messing with the fairways at all.

Also, the picture posted is an armadillo den. Yep... they’re definitely out here. These holes are all over the course, especially out in the rough, though there are a few around the fairways too. There’s even one near Hole 7’s basket. Just be mindful while you’re walking around and keep an eye on your footing. The last thing anybody wants is to step in one of these ankle-snatchers and leave the course hopping on one leg like a flamingo with a pulled hamstring. šŸ˜…

Everything else is looking good, and I can’t wait to see some folks back out on the course soon. šŸŒ²šŸ„
