🥏 BLACKBERRY PINES × CANEY CREEK MINI RESULTS 🥏

We had another great turnout today at Caney Creek with 16 players coming out for the mini!

We split everybody into four cards of four and played singles. There were some really good rounds out there today, with Brock Cummings taking the win with a 52 (-7)! 🔥

We also had a three-way tie for second at -3 between J.R. Stark, Daniel Love, and Carlos Mejia.

A big welcome to Aurelio Yeni Sanchez and Ray Alvarez, who joined us for their first mini! Glad to have both of y’all out there, and hopefully we’ll see you back for plenty more. 🥏

Also, a big thank you to Brock Cummings for donating five discs for CTP prizes! We had CTPs set up on holes 2, 6, 8, 10, and 12, and all five discs were given away to the winners. That was a great little bonus for the round and we really appreciate Brock putting those up for everybody! 👏🥏

🥏 BlackBerry Pines × Caney Creek Saturday Mini 🥏

We’re back at Caney Creek Disc Golf this Saturday at 9:30 AM!

We’ll get everybody together and figure out what we want to play once we get there, like always. Singles, doubles, something different… we’ll see what everybody’s feeling.

I’m also going to try to be a little more organized this time than I was the last time we played Caney Creek. 😂 Last time I pretty much sprung it on everybody and said, “Alright, go find a hole!”

This week we’re bringing in a little technology. 🤖🥏 We’ll get everybody’s names together, let ChatGPT work its magic, split us into groups, assign starting holes, and hopefully make the whole thing a little smoother.

🥏 CANEY CREEK DISC GOLF MINI – BLACKBERRY PINES RESULTS 🥏

We had another great turnout today with 15 players joining us at Blackberry Pines! We had 11 of our regulars along with four players from the Tyler area who came out and joined us. It was great having y’all!

The weather wasn’t too terribly bad, and we had a really good time out there.

A big THANK YOU to Brock Cummings for hosting us at BlackBerry Pines this week and letting us come out and enjoy the course.

Congratulations to Jerry Barnett, who aced Hole 18, a 154-foot Par 3! Nothing quite wakes up a Saturday round like hearing chains from the tee. Congratulations, Jerry! 🥏⛓️

We also tried something new this week. Brock has put together a course rating system that gives us a pretty close comparison of the rating each player shot for their round. We’re going to start keeping up with these ratings along with our weekly scores and tags.

🥏 SATURDAY MORNING DISC GOLF AT BLACKBERRY PINES! 🌲

Just a reminder that we’ll be back at BlackBerry Pines this Saturday at 9:30 AM for another round!

Last week, splitting everyone into smaller groups seemed to work out really well. We were able to get around the course pretty quickly and finish before the worst of the afternoon heat set in. Even with all that shade in the woods, East Texas can still get pretty muggy once it heats up! 😅

We’ll see how many people show up Saturday and decide what we want to do from there. We may split into smaller groups again, do some kind of team format, or we may just play singles again.

Playing singles could actually be useful because it would give us a chance to see how everyone’s scores come in at Blackberry Pines and give us some good information to work with as we keep doing these weekly rounds.

Either way, we’ll figure it out when everybody gets there. The main thing is to come out, throw some discs, and have a good time!

🥏 WHAT A TURNOUT AT CANEY CREEK! 🥏

We had an excellent turnout this morning with 18 players showing up to play! We ran singles, split into six groups of three, and most everyone finished the round in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Pretty speedy for 18 people on the course!

We also handed out all the tags, and it looks like this is turning into a weekly thing. I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s been a blast meeting new people, playing with different folks, and seeing this many people out enjoying the course.

Thank you to everybody who came out today! I really appreciate y’all supporting Caney Creek and helping make these Saturday mornings something to look forward to.

We’re planning to do it again Saturday, August 29th at 9:30 AM, this time over at BlackBerry Pines. I’ll double-check with Brock Cummings to make sure there aren’t any events or anything else going on, but as of right now, that’s the plan!

We’ll figure out exactly what format we’re playing when we get a little closer.

18 players today… let’s see if we can beat that next Saturday!

Just a reminder that tomorrow morning, Saturday at 9:30 AM, we’re getting together again at Caney Creek Disc Golf!

We had a great time last weekend, so we’re going to do it again. We may play doubles, singles, or try something a little different. We’ll see who shows up and let everybody decide what sounds fun.

🔑 KEY FOB UPDATE — IT’S BEEN FOUND! 🔑

Good news! My missing key fob has officially been located!

Aurelio Yeni Sanchez found it on Hole 15 at Caney Creek Disc Golf. Thank you so much, buddy! I really appreciate you finding it and getting it back to me. 🙌🥏

So everybody can call off the search. The key fob has been found and is back where it belongs!

🚨 CANEY CREEK LOST & FOUND — THIS NEEDS TO STOP 🚨

I pulled these three discs out of the creek today, and they have been placed in the Lost & Found box.

But I need to address something that has become a serious problem.

I’m finding more and more discs with no name or phone number on them, and apparently some people think that means, “Well, I guess it’s mine now.”

NO. IT DOESN’T.

If you didn’t lose it, it isn’t yours.

One of the discs I found today is an MVP disc that is clearly an ace disc. There’s no name or phone number on it, but it has writing on it documenting the ace. Somebody knows exactly what that disc means to them, and I want it returned to its rightful owner.

Here’s what has really set me off:

I put FIVE found discs in the Lost & Found on Friday. Today is Tuesday, and ALL FIVE ARE GONE.

The people they belonged to did not come pick them up.

So somebody is taking discs out of the Lost & Found that do not belong to them.

That is not “finding a disc.”

That is stealing.

I hate that it has come to this, but I’m going to find a solution to this problem, and I’m going to figure out who is taking these discs.

And when I do, you will be banned from Caney Creek Disc Golf. Permanently. You will not be welcome back on my property.

I built this course and opened my property for people to come out, play disc golf, have a good time, and enjoy it. I should not have to worry about somebody using my Lost & Found as their own personal disc store.

If you’re taking discs because you need discs that badly, figure something else out. Buy used discs. Get a job. Get a second job. Whatever you need to do.

But DO NOT steal somebody else’s property from mine.

These three discs are in the Lost & Found right now. If one belongs to you, come get it.

If it DOESN’T belong to you:

LEAVE. IT. ALONE.

Taking something that isn’t yours will not be tolerated at Caney Creek.

And to whoever has been doing it: when I find out who you are, you’re done here. Period.

🌲🥏 Great Day at Blackberry Pines! 🥏🌲

Yesterday’s get-together at BlackBerry Pines Disc & Camp was a huge success! We had 14 people show up, and I want to give a big thank-you to Brock Cummings for hosting us and letting us come out and enjoy the course.

We kicked things off with some flip doubles, which turned out to be a blast. One of the best parts about flip doubles is you never know who you’re going to team up with, so several people got the chance to play with folks they’d never played a round with before. That’s exactly the kind of thing we’re hoping to build with this.

We also spent some time talking about the Caney Creek / Blackberry Pines League and getting everybody’s thoughts and ideas. We talked about singles, doubles, different formats, and even possibly working in some glow rounds since Blackberry Pines has glow baskets set up and ready to go. 🌙🥏

Right now, it looks like we’re going to wait until things cool off this fall before officially starting the 10-week league. If everything goes well, we may follow that up with another 10-week league through the winter and possibly keep it rolling into the spring.

For now, we’re just going to ease into it and put together some weekend rounds and get-togethers, try a few different formats, and see what everybody enjoys. Yesterday showed us there’s definitely interest. Fourteen people at our first little get-together is a pretty darn good start!

We’re going to do it again Saturday, August 22nd at 9:30 a.m. at Caney Creek Disc Golf!

This time we may change things up a little. We might play singles, another type of doubles, or try a completely different format. We’ll wait until everybody gets there, kick around some ideas, and decide as a group what sounds like the most fun.

For those of you who wanted to come yesterday but couldn’t make it, we hope y’all can join us next Saturday! We had a really good time, and the more people we can get together, the better. The more the merrier!

Most importantly, this is about playing disc golf, meeting new people, enjoying different courses, and growing our local disc golf community.
