Ok folks, seeing how we at BFI have all either have gotten older or too broken down to drive any more, I'm sad to say this is it... It's been some kind of wild ride, and I've met so many good people in the almost 20 years we've been crashing and bashing around the state. I'll miss the thrill of pulling out on the track and lining up against the wall. Taking the briefest of seconds to relax. To take it all in. To wave to the family sitting in the stands, letting them know I'm going to be ok, and this is where I'm most at peace. That this is where I belong.
I belong behind the wheel of a beat up old s**t box that me and the crew worked so many days and nights to get running and ready just to tear it up in 20 minutes. Garry, Mole, James, Danny, Mark, Darren, and all the others, thank you for allowing be to drag you into this crazy ass dream I've lived and had since I was just a little kid. Some of you are blood family, some of you aren't, but you all will always be brothers to me.
Thanks to all the wives and significant others that have put up with all those late nights spent at the shop. You all have the patience of saints, sorry for all we put you through and all the important things we missed.
Like I said, this has been in my blood since I was knee high to a grasshopper. The earliest derby memory I have was watching the Union Fair derby in the early eighties. Freddy Strattman was in an old leafed wagon painted like a PBR can was hu**ed up so bad it was incredible it still moved. I can't remember who won, back then, I'm sure it was one of the Clarks, but I remember that wagon like it was yesterday.
That started the obsession. Darren helped fuel that fire in the sandboxes at grandma's house. Beer cans met a crushing end as heat after heat took place, until only one can stood tall as the winner of that days derby. Usually it was one of the cheating Vess cans because they were made out of thicker aluminum, or a tall boy because those were the wagons.
Anyway, enough of the stroll down memory lane. The point is, my back is shot, and the Doctors say "no-no" to any more "smashy-crashy". So I'm hanging up my helmet.
Which leads me to my next (old) venture. Trackshot apparel.

I've recently bought a load of real equipment to make T-shirts. This is happening for real. I'm in the process of getting everything set up and ready to realize the next dream.
What I need are pictures of cars to be made into artwork for t-shirts. If anyone has any high quality, visually interesting car photos they'd be willing to let me use, I'd appreciate the help.
The plan is to start local, get our feet wet before diving into the deep end and going to the larger shows where the money is obviously.
Icons are great, but legends are forever.
