During her playing career, she was a top 10 ranked Texas junior, played doubles and singles for her state championship high school team, national NJCAA doubles and team runner-up at Tyler Junior College, and a member of the top 15 ranked University of Arkansas women’s team. After her junior and collegiate career, she began her award winning tennis teaching career. Melissa is a three time recipient of Arkansas Tennis Professional of the Year, winner of the Victor Sheshunoff Meritorious Education Award, Southern Special Event of the Year, and numerous other accolades. She is also the author of Step With the Other Left Foot, a book of drills, tips, and silly stories that can be enjoyed by anyone who loves to play the game of tennis. Melissa is a long time certified referee and umpire for the USTA, PTR certified in 10 & Under and Adult, PPR certified pickleball instructor, a Master Racquet Technician, and is SafePlay and background check approved by the USTA.
