The Braves escape Washington with a win and a series split against the Nats! Grant Holmes started this one and was perfect through three until the rain hit and, after a rain delay over an hour, was forced to leave the game but the bullpen was able to hold it down. They were able to pitch 6.0 inning of 2 hit ball with 5 strikeouts. The hero out of the pen was once again Elieser Hernandez, as he’s done multiple times already this season. He covered 3.0 innings only giving up one hit and striking out one. On the offensive side of things, they were pretty quiet until they exploded for 9 runs in the last four innings. Murphy homered once again and Acuña picked up his 200th career homer. Ha-Seong Kim picked up another base hit and is now batting .375 in his last six games. An excellent turn around from him and his bat will be huge this last month if he can keep it up. Sean Murphy is also batting .292 with 3 homers and 8 RBIs since his return from the injured list. Another huge bat to have down the stretch. All around great game from our boys, who now head to Philly to begin the biggest stretch of the season. 7 of the next 10 games are all against the Phillies. It will be the last time we play them in the regular season this year and this will make or break the division. It really all comes down to this. Phillies just lost to the Diamondbacks so we’re now 4.0 games up with our magic number being 19. We’re off tomorrow and then face off against the Phillies on Friday.
