Getting close to the holidays, and also since its opening weekend of Deer Season, I invite anyone to post a good Stilly memory.

Granted a I have a ton, but tonight I was reminded of one in particular. As we were talking about how cheap some booze was, Boone's Farm was mentioned and it jogged loose a time when Stilly handed me $20 to go to the Piggy and get him a bottle of Boone's Farm. When I got back, he asked for his change and I handed him $15 back. He proceeded to tell me that because a bottle was so cheap, that's how he knew it was so good! Of course, that was coming from a guy who was also drinking cooking Sheri like it was wine!

Attention all! Attention all! Evart Haney is turning 90! That's right, a Clubhouse staple is turning the big 9-0! On such an occasion, what does one do? Well I'll tell you what we will do! On August 14th, we shall gather at the Eagles Club 3717 around 6:00pm to celebrate this momentous occasion! There will be a potluck dinner and any food brought would be greatly appreciated! Of course the bar is cash only, so bring enough to drink because Evart will be drinking it up that night(two beers and a White Russian before heading to bed)! So please, join us on the 14th to help us celebrate the birthday of wonderful old man who means a lot to those who have ever met him!

RONALD L. "STILLY" NOVAK
Ronald "Stilly" L. Novak, 68, Sugar Creek, Mo., passed away July 2, 2015. A celebration of Stilly's life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 E. 42nd Street South, Unit 600, Marketplace Shopping Center, Independence, MO 64055. Stilly was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Independence, graduated from Van Horn High School, was a US Navy veteran and was a lifelong resident of Sugar Creek. He had worked at MO-Portland Cement Co. and for the City of Sugar Creek. He enjoyed growing tomatoes, fishing and hunting. He was an avid baseball player and loved watching sports and the Kansas City Royals on TV. He was President of Stilly's Clubhouse, a member of Eagle's Lodge #3717 and VFW in Sugar Creek. Stilly was preceded in death by sister, Veronica "Sissy" Burkett. He is survived by his brother, Denny Novak and Janey Martin, Independence; nephew Dan Novak and wife Angie, Grain Valley, Mo.; niece, Diane Novak and Pat Dale, Independence, and many other family members. It is with heavy heart that the Clubhouse Kids must inform all those that have ever visited the Clubhouse that the proprietor has passed away today, July 2nd, 2015. Stilly was one of a kind, and he will be missed by all. Women's golf, basketball, and tennis will never be the same while I watch them ever again. May he rest in peace and have fun in the afterlife with Sis!
