Congratulations to all the Bay Nordic skiers, coaches, and parents who did the 5k or 10k run today. Noteworthy division results include the flying Hansons (Sawyer 2nd and Mercy 4th) and the fleet-feet-down the street Derenne family of runners (Emily 1st, Ashley 2nd, and Matthew, aka honey badger, 3rd). Extra credit to board member Morgan who literally skied the 5k. Yellow was the wax of the day.

Congratulations to all the BN runners, jumpers, and throwers who participated in regionals. More congratulations to those who competed in sectionals today, including Ellie 1, Ellie 3, Onika, and Maggie along with alternates Collin, Ben, James, and Ashley.

And then there were two. Good luck to Milslukern (Mile Eater) Maggie, who goes to state competition representing Pulaski in the 1600m, and to Superstarter Onika who is the first leg of Bay Port’s 1600m and 3200m relay teams. We’re proud of you!

Add Eden to our Bay Nordic athletes at regionals. She is doing two throwing events and joins Paul as a thrower. She also adds another high school so we have reps from 5 high schools.

Congratulations and good luck to Bay Nordic skiers and affiliated athletes at track and field regionals. Hope I haven’t missed anyone: Onika (3 events), Maggie and Ellie (2 events each), Ashley, James, Thomas, recent grads Oliver and Paul, and Bay Nordic race team adjacent Ellie C (Ellie 1?), Lydia, and Gabe.

Great week for seeing Bay Nordic skiers in spring sports. Lots of PRs, top 10 finishes, and big efforts. But what struck me most was the character of our athletes. Some highlights:
*James, Oliver, Onika, JoJo, and Ashley walking to their 800 meter starts together while representing different schools.
*Ellie recovering from shin splints but repping Pulaski in the 200; not her strength but she went from grimace to a huge Ellie smile (with a little ribbing from her rude ski coaches).
*Kate, vying for athlete of the week, showing great vision and decisiveness and keeping the play right in front of the net all night long for Preble girls soccer.
*Noah, expecting to run the 100 meter dash instead taking on the 100 m hurdles with Noah-like grace in a middie’s meet.
*Sawyer anchoring the 4x1600 m relay with much younger teammates and starting with an insurmountable gap but putting it all on the track and pushing it all the way.
*Emily running more kilometers back and forth across the infield than she raced in order to support teammates and help them stay warm on a miserable wet night that only skiers could enjoy.

Your results were impressive but your character will last forever. Thanks to you all.
