Terri Jorgenson for SD our current SD State Representative has been a strong supporter of shooting sports, firearm rights, and protecting the privacy of law-abiding gun owners. She helped lead legislation stopping firearm-specific purchase tracking in South Dakota and actively supports competitive shooting sports across the state. She has supported the South Dakota Shooting Sports SDGFP complex from the beginning. Put her back in office on June 2. 💪🙌

In 2025, I won the SD Attorney General's Top Gun Award. If I'm honored to earn your vote and return to the legislature, I hope to win again for District 29!

Good Morning Meade County!

Well… apparently today is “Dump Your Stolen Gun Safe on a County Road Day.”

Yep. That’s a thing now. This beauty was discovered this morning out on Ricard Road by our deputies. It’s so big and heavy we couldn’t just toss it in the back of a pickup—so now the highway crew gets the pleasure of bringing out the big toys to clean it up.

Which, naturally, raises a few questions:
• Who’s missing a gun safe?
• Who thought the middle of a county road was a great final resting place?
• And most importantly… who looked at a perfectly good safe and said, “Nah, let’s just cut a hole in the bottom instead of remembering the combination”?

Also… what exactly was in this thing that made it worth all that effort? Because that’s some serious commitment to poor decision-making.

So here’s your friendly education piece today...
-Don’t drop your stolen gun safe on county roads.
-Better yet, don’t steal gun safes.

And if you find yourself cutting into one because you “forgot the combo,” maybe rethink a few life choices before hauling it out to Ricard Road like it’s bulk trash day.

If this is your safe and you just realized it’s missing, come have a chat with us. We’d love to help reconnect you with it.

And if you’re the one who dumped it—congratulations, you’ve officially been nominated for “Neighbor of the Year.”

Yeah, we are making an assumption that it was stolen from somewhere because who would do this to their own safe?

Be safe out there, Meade County!

On 5/19/25 the USPSA Board of Directors approved the recommendation of the Steel Challenge Committee to add two new official stages to Steel Challenge. This recommendation was based upon the results of the April 2025 Steel Challenge survey responses which overwhelmingly favored this concept.
The next step in the process to add these new stages is to "crowdsource" member generated designs to be considered for candidacy as new stages. The following form lays out the expectations, requirements, and timeline for stage design candidacy:
Membership Requirements:
Designs must be submitted by active members in good standing.
Submission Requirements/Process:
Each submitted design must include a name comprised of one to three words.
Up to five designs can be submitted per member.
All designs must be submitted via email to [email protected] and be received by end-of-day Pacific Time on 7/31/25 to be considered.
All designs should include a stage diagram like those found in Appendix B of the Steel Challenge Rules using the Steel Challenge New Stage Submission Form (PDF).
The Steel Challenge Committee will evaluate valid submissions and select the most promising candidates in August.
Finalist candidate stages will be presented to membership for feedback and input no later than end-of-month September.
Selected stages will become provisional stages with provisional PSTs for 2026. The committee reserves the option to make modifications to provisional stages and PSTs as needed and potentially with little to no notice.
No existing 2025 stages are expected to be retired in 2026.
Design Requirements:
Stage designs should use either of the following two plate configurations:
3x 12 inch round and 2x 18-by-24 inch rectangular
4x 12 inch round and 1x 18-by-24 inch rectangular
Stage maximum dimensions: 32ft wide and 75ft long.
Designs should not require movement during the ex*****on of a string.
Other limits and restrictions:
Shooting box max size 4'x4'
Maximum number of shooting boxes: 3
Maximum number of stop plates: 1
Minimum shots per string: 5
Maximum hits per plate: 1
Minimum/ Maximum target height 5ft/ 6ft
Plates should be no closer to the shooting box(es) than 21ft.
Designs should not attempt to alter default start conditions for divisions (e.g. holstered and, low-ready)
All designs should meet existing SCSA stage layout expectations defined in 2.2 of the Steel Challenge rules
