For 16 years, the Wounded Hero Fishing Event has been our way of saying thank you to the men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.
From August 2-5, 2026, veterans from across the nation will gather at The Lodge at Leathem Smith in Sturgeon Bay for a few days filled with fishing, fellowship, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories. What began as an act of appreciation by Paul Meleen and a dedicated group of volunteers has grown into a tradition that has impacted countless veterans over the years.
This event is about much more than fishing. It is about building friendships, sharing stories, enjoying the outdoors, and connecting with fellow veterans who understand the sacrifices and experiences of military service. Whether on the water chasing salmon, walleye, or bass, around the dinner table, or gathered around the fire in the evening, these moments create memories that last a lifetime.
A special thank you to Paul Meleen, The Lodge at Leathem Smith, our volunteer captains, guides, sponsors, staff, and everyone who helps make this incredible event possible year after year. Your generosity continues to make a difference in the lives of those who have served.
