Hello fellow sporting clays enthusiasts. It is getting to be that time of the year for the 2026 Fall Sporting Clays League to begin. With our new sporting clays course up and running and still incorporating the original course, we anticipate a great turn out and lots of laughs and fun to be had. Along with the shooting, we will be providing a meal for the league shooters the week of September 27th and a meal for the league shooters on the final day of shooting, October 18th and as always, beverages such as water, soda, NA b**r, b**r, mixed drinks will be available after shooting each week for purchasing. If you will need to purchase am******on, the Gun Club will have 12-gauge sh***un shells for sale. It is also the policy of the Gun Club that any shooter taking part in the league will be required to have a Gun Club membership. Daily memberships cost $10, and annual memberships cost $50. Now let’s get down to the details.
WHERE: Door County Rod and Gun Club located at 3210 Mathey Road.
WHEN: The fall league runs for 6 weeks. The league will take place on Sundays during the open hours of the Gun Club, with the shooting times to begin at 10:00 a.m. SHARP. Starting times may vary pending which course is being shot that week of the league. The goal is to try and use the old course at least twice during the 6-week league. The dates for shooting are listed as follows:
September 13th (Sunday)
September 20th (Sunday)
September 27th (Sunday) possibly shooting original course
October 4th (Sunday) possibly shooting original course
October 11th (Sunday)
October 18th (Sunday)
WHO: The sporting clays league is open to all age of shooters. During the previous years of league shooting, we typically get around 18-30 shooters participating in the league but are hoping each of you will spread the word and hopefully we can attract some new shooters to experience our beautiful original course and the challenging new course that the Gun Club has put so much time and effort into developing. Not to forget the Gun Club’s s***t field, 4 trap houses, 25-to-200-yard riffle range, and cozy club house to enjoy. So, pass the word on to as many as possible. The Gun Club is looking to share all the amenities it can offer with future members and customers as possible.
WHAT: We will be using the “Lewis Class System” for scoring the sporting clays league. Each shooter must shoot at least 4 out of the 6 weeks to be considered for the winnings at the end of the league. The cost to participate in the sporting clays league is $30 per round. $25 dollars for shooting sporting clays, and $5 dollars will go into the Lewis Class fund to be divided up and dispersed to the winning shooters on the last league, October 18th. If you are out to shoot sporting clays league and not participate in the Lewis Class system/shoot less than 4 weeks of the league, the cost is $25 dollars to shoot, and you will not qualify for the earnings come October 18th.
HOW: During the league shoots, we plan to use both the original course and the new course. We are hoping to use the original course 2 out of the 6 weeks of shooting. The original course has 9 stations, and the new course has 12 stations. Both courses will require shooting 50 rounds of am******on. With using the original course, the squads will be split up into 2 groups, each group starting on both ends of the course. With using the new course, squads will be compiled into groups of 4-6 shooters and will have an individual stand to start shooting on. Typically using the original course, time to shoot is around 2.5 hours, using the new course, time to shoot is around 45 minutes to an hour.
WHY: If you enjoy the outdoors, shooting guns, meeting new people, and having a place to sit down and converse with others like yourself, please come enjoy what the Door County Gun Club has to offer. We are constantly looking to better the grounds and provide a enjoyable place for all to come and have fun!
