🌟 Staff Spotlight Sunday 🌟
This week, we're highlighting Sarah Gavin, our Healthy Living Director at the Sturgeon Bay Program Center! We asked her a few questions so you can get to know the people who help make our Y such a special place.
What is your role at the organization, and what do you do?
As the Healthy Living Director, I oversee Group Fitness and get to work alongside the world’s best Group Exercise instructors. I also help handle the behind-the-scenes details that keep our programs running smoothly, teach classes both in the water and on land, and work with members as a personal trainer.
I coordinate the Blossom Run and Healthy Living Fair and proudly serve as the Y’s Learning Champion. That sounds more impressive than it is—I help staff navigate our online certification and training platform. But “Champ” has a nice ring to it, so please call me that!
What professional background or training supports your current work?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and Theology, which obviously led me to a career in Health and Wellness!. As a lifelong athlete, I’ve always loved being active, especially weightlifting. I believe sports prepared me well for Group Exercise, where I love the community, accountability, and energy. I’m also a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
What excites you most about your work here?
What I love most is laughing with our members and staff every day. Our Healthy Living Team works hard, supports one another, and knows how important it is to have fun along the way.
Tell us a little about yourself!
