Happy Fatherβs Day to all the dads out there, and especially to our Team Mass coaches who dedicate valuable time away from their busy lives and families to help our players grow as individuals and develop valuable skills and life lessons on and off the court. Itβs a long grind with practices, tournaments, and countless hours behind the scenes, but your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. We appreciate everything you do.
A special Happy Fatherβs Day in Heaven to my father and our longtime director, Vincent Siniscalchi.
Itβs hard to believe itβs been 4Β½ years since your unexpected passing on the final day of basketball tryouts at Tantasqua. You passed away doing what you loved. You only had 6 days after retiring, most people would have tried to enjoy retirement after over 40+ years of work, but coaching was your passion and your calling. You dedicated your life to shaping young athletes on and off the soccer field, basketball court, and in life beyond sports.
Your years of commitment to the community never went unnoticed. You gave every player a fair opportunity, pushed them to be their best, and built teams that competed at a high level through hard work, discipline, and accountability. The impact you left on players, families, coaches, and the community is still talked about to this day.
Just last week, a parent introduced himself to me and shared how highly another coach spoke of you and our family. I still have former players and parents reach out with stories about how great you were and how much you meant to them. Hearing those stories years later is reassuring because I know firsthand what a great coach, mentor, and father you were.
What started as one team for my nephew and his friends has grown into something far greater than I could have ever imagined. When I was asked to rebuild the program you spent over 25 years building, it was an easy decision. It keeps your memory alive while allowing the next generation of athletes to develop as players, teammates, and young adults.
Thank you for getting me involved in coaching and showing me what it takes to be a great coach, how to run a program the right way, and how to run tournaments people still talk about. All those years of helping you set up the tournaments, keep score, and watching you work late nights at the kitchen table after overnight shifts prepared me for this journey. The success we've had today wouldn't have been possible without the lessons you taught me.
More importantly, you showed me how to be a role model and leader for young athletes. You taught me that success isn't measured by wins and losses, but by the impact you leave on others.
For more than 28 years, Team Mass Basketball has helped local athletes develop their skills, confidence, character, leadership, and love for the game. Because of the foundation you built, it will continue doing so for many more years to come.
