Be careful navigating the ! Super shallow on the north side! DON’T!!! Back in May when I called the Coastal Division of Martin County (772) 288-5795 and spoke to head Jessica Garland voicing my concerns of how they were disposing of the Dredge tailings; she was less than pleased to hear from me, then lectured how she knew the exact depth of the inlet because it was her job! Assured me there was nothing to worry about dumping the sand onto . Well, here we are after the first and it’s closing out. DO NOT favor the North side of the inlet! Super shallow in the center and the red nun sticking out of the of SFP. When this subsides, there’s a good possibility that by end of next week there will be exposed sand dead center of the inlet. Half the inlet is so shallow right now even with these high tides, the break is so extreme there were actually two guys surfing it when we came in this afternoon. This video is on the way out this morning, just as the tide changed to outgoing. Inside the inlet where it’s breaking it’s only a couple feet deep at high tide. Currently, it’s safer to navigate this inlet going on the wrong side of the first green can. If you run down the center or anywhere north of that center line you’re putting yourself in danger. Hasn’t even been six months since my call stating this was going to happen after the first swell… breaking dead center inside the inlet, huge break offshore to the south and even filling in offshore on the north side. poor decision on where to put the tailings for sure. Half of it came right back into the channel on the incoming tide and the other half out the inlet covering the reef and causing major sandbars to the north and south. Told her I felt they were doing this intentionally… Nice work Martin County! We literally paid to fill in our inlet and now we’re going to have to pay them to dredge again not even six months later. FYI, there wasn’t even a problem in the first place. We didn’t have to Dredge back in May!
