Gut any gamefish offshore, from a peanut dolphin to a grander blue marlin, and one thing becomes very obvious - all sizes of fish eat small baits, and often small bait is all a crew will find in a fish's stomach. Fact is, most medium to small gamefish feed almost exclusively on 2 - 5" bait, worldwide, with an occasional bonus larger bait thrown down the gullet each day. This "small bait" issue is

often the one factor that turns a potentially great day into a blow-out, when fish are so fixated on small bait that traditionally-sized offerings just get plain ignored or poorly eaten on the bite. For almost every crew, trying to find a lure that matches these small to tiny bait-fish, in both size and profile, whilst still being robust enough to meet the challenge of a toothy maw and swim effectively and true at speeds of 8 to 20 knots, is a problem. Developing such a range has been a major project for Capt Roddy for many years. However, we think you'll agree that he's finally done it with the DAWN PATROL series of lures, cunningly created from brass bullet casings - perfectly machined, annealed, drilled and plated, and when you run one you'll see why. These little baits all run true, straight, with subtle erratic movements, and as they're outfitted with just enough shine, reflection and shimmer to turn on every single fish that sees them, you'll find yourself catching almost everything that swims. You can troll them, cast them a country mile, and jig them across the reef. They smoke like Vesuvius, pop spray like any great offshore lure should do, and provide a really good basis for any spread where hungry fish swim in search of food - especially small food. These lures will take pretty much any leader and hook you want to put in them, are cleverly designed so components can be easily replaced, and they are incredible value for an indestructible and very effective bait. Whether you rig them 'Cedar Plug' style with an internal hook, or attach a duster of bucktail as a skirt, you'll quickly find out these little rocket-ships are the small lures that you have been waiting for all your bluewater life.
