A day for family & friends to gather in honor of Emmett that will include lunch, dinner, open bar, 18 holes, raffles and more! was a lifelong Stratford resident, 1979 graduate of Stratford High School, and played sports at every level from Stratford Original Little League to various town softball teams. “Ace” had a huge heart and a quick wit - he was a friend to all and a gifted athlete and teammate. After becoming a father to Jack and Erin, he also became their baseball, basketball and soccer coach through Sterling House. Sports was in his blood - he covered sports for the Connecticut Post, learning his journalism craft from his father, sports editor, Emmett Spillane, Sr. Emmett passed away suddenly in November 2021. He is dearly missed by his wife Patti, son Jack, daughter Erin as well as his mother Kathleen, his sisters Patty Gallagher (Sean) and Maureen Rooney (Jim), brothers Sean and Brian, several nieces and nephews, his extended family and many great loyal friends. The proceeds from this tournament will go to help support his family with ongoing expenses.
