BURN THE SHIPS 🔥
in 2023 when I set out to run my very first ever ultramarathon, a 50 mile trail race, having not hardly a single clue what I was even getting into “burn the ships” was my mantra. My 17-year-old son gave it to me, he explained to me where it came from and what it meant and basically it means do or die. There’s no turning back there’s only forward and ever since then I’ve used this as my life mantra, not just in running.
be bold enough … confident enough… delusional enough …to believe in your goals and go forward into them! I’ve been saying now for almost 2 years that I dream of running the Cocodona 250 race and last night my name was pulled for the lottery and I officially will have a bib in that race in 2027!
we’re burning ships to the mothafuccin ground this year. My life is entirely different than it was even just three months ago. Everything feels changed, but nothing has ever felt more right at the same time. I’m so excited, eager, even to take on the challenge of training for this ginormous race. The next 10 or so months every mile I run will be in the direction of that finish line and I’m so grateful that I get this opportunity.
