Marshall McGowan (Western Carolina) drove a 3-1 fastball deep into the Strasburg night, tying the game in the 6th and jump-starting a late offensive surge. The Express would go on to score 8 times in the late frames and survived a scare, beating the visiting River Bandits 12-9 on Monday night.

McGowan would finish 2-for-5 on the night with a home run, a double, 4 RBI, and a run scored. Baylor Roberts (UAB) had a big night offensively as well, finishing 2-for-4 with 4 RBI, 2 runs scored, and a stolen base. Roberts 2-run single in the bottom of the 7th put the Express ahead for good, leading 9-7. Tommy Kirwan (Wofford) went 3-for-6 with a double.

Godwin would strike out 6 of the 9 batters he faced. Things then got tight in the 9th with Woodstock scoring twice and loading the bases. But with the go-ahead run at the plate, Noah LaFine (VMI) got him to pop up, securing the win for Strasburg.
