Congratulations to Sam Brown (Gulf Coast State/Coastal Carolina) on being named the Northern Division Player of the Year! He finished the summer with a .340 batting average, 6 HR's, 27 RBI's, 29 Runs Scored, 33 BB's, and a .523 on-base percentage. His OPS for the summer was 1.129!

Brown becomes the 4th Express position player to be named the Player of the Year, following Brad Zebedis (2011), Jordan Tarsovich (2013), and Landon Beaver (2025).

The Express fell to Wi******er 5-3 on Sunday night, ending our 2026 summer season.

The roster got pretty thin the second half of the summer, especially the pitching. We entered the North Division Finals with only a single pitcher available for game 1 vs Wi******er. It was tough.

But it makes us appreciate, even more, the young men who were able to stay the majority of the season and did so. We are incredibly thankful to their parents and coaches for trusting us with them. It was an honor to watch them grow and we're looking forward to what the future holds. All of you, please get home safely.

As always, we are incredibly thankful for the support of our fans and community. We pride ourselves on representing the town well and putting a great product on the field. This concludes our 15th season in the Valley Baseball League. We have 11 appearances in the Division Finals, 7 championship series appearances, and 4 Lineweaver Cups. We hope to add to that list next summer.

In the coming week we'll break the field down and clean up. Shortly following that we'll begin planning for our annual gun / cash bash, so please be on the lookout for communication regarding that event.

And again, thank you for all for your never-ending support.

Game 2 is tomorrow night at home. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.

EXPRESS WALK-OFF CANNONS, ADVANCE TO NORTH DIVISION FINALS

Strasburg knocked off Purcellville 5-4 on Friday night at First Bank Park thanks to some timely hitting and outstanding pitching. The win tonight propels Strasburg to their 11th North Division Final / Valley Baseball League Semifinal appearance in the past 13 seasons.

The biggest swing of the night came off the bat of Madden Williams (Samford University), with an RBI double to right field in the bottom of the 10th to score the winning run. Williams would finish 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Madden's mighty swing drove in Brian Trujillo (Eastern Kentucky) who had doubled in the previous at bat. Trujillo went 2-for-4 with a run scored and 2 stolen bases on the evening. Tommy Kirwan (Wofford) also had a multi-hit effort for the Express, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Caden Haywood (Western Carolina) and Marshall McGowan (Western Carolina) both doubled, with Haywood scoring once. Sam Brown (Coastal Carolina) and Fuller Morrish (Georgia State) both singled and scored a run, with Brown also walking twice.

In his first start of the summer for the Express, Ryan Seifert (Shenandoah) was outstanding. Seifert went 5 innings allowing only 1 earned run, scattering 6 hits, and striking out 5 while walking zero. Colton Starling (Western Carolina) entered in relief and went 2.2 innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 4. Earning the win tonight was Jayden White (Georgia Southern), who tossed the final 2.1 frames. White struck out 5 and allowed 1 run on 3 hits.

Strasburg has earned a bid to face Wi******er in the North Division Finals. First pitch of game 1 is tomorrow night at Wi******er and scheduled for 7pm.

HOGAN SPINS GEM, HAYWOOD AND GREEN POWER OFFENSE IN GAME 1 VICTORY

Caden Haywood (Western Carolina) drove the first pitch in the bottom of the 1st over the fence in left-center field. It would ultimately be a foreshadowing of a Strasburg offensive explosion, cruising to a 13-1 game 1 victory over the visiting Purcellville Cannons.

Haywood wasn't done in the 1st, however. Later in the bottom of the 6th, he would launch a 2-run shot off the light pole in left-center field as well. He would finish 3-for-4 with 2 home runs, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Not to be outdone, Ben Green (UNC Asheville) had a huge night at the plate also. Green would later hit a 2-run home of his own in the 6th inning, finishing 4-for-5 with 5 RBI, a double, and a run scored.

Marshall McGowan (Western Carolina), Tanner Waldrop (Auburn), and Tommy Kirwin (Wofford) all singled, scored once, and drove in a run. Brian Trujillo (Eastern Kentucky) and Fuller Morrish (Georgia State) each singled and scored once. Sam Brown (Coastal Carolina) walked 4 times and scored 3 runs, while Jay Douglas (Eastern Kentucky) scored twice.

While the offense scored runs in bunches, Charlie Hogan (Norfolk State) wouldn't need many on Wednesday night. Hogan went 6 innings allowing only 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7, earning the win in the process. Kaiden Takahashi-Trader (Longwood) pitched a scoreless 7th, securing the run-shortened game.

Strasburg returns to action for game 2 tomorrow night at Purcellville. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
