Lindsay Turiello is a devoted mother of five, a full-time worker, a firefighter serving our Stowe community, and a cherished neighbor. Right now, Lindsay is facing an incredibly tough journey: she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing 16 rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery and a minimum six-week recovery. After that, she will need four weeks of daily radiation treatments. Despite all of this, Lindsay continues to be a loving mom and a dedicated member of our community.
The financial strain of cancer treatment is immense. Lindsay flies from Stowe, VT to Houston, TX every couple of months for her treatments — and those travel costs alone add up quickly. On top of that, she faces ongoing insurance costs and everyday expenses, all while being unable to work during her treatment and recovery. Every dollar donated goes directly toward giving Lindsay the breathing room to focus on healing and caring for her children, without the added weight of financial stress.
To rally our community around Lindsay, I am taking on a personal challenge: I will swim at least 5 miles throughout the month of June, sharing weekly updates along the way. Our kids are friends, and as neighbors, I have seen firsthand how strong the Stowe community can be. I hope this effort brings awareness to Lindsay's journey and inspires others to show up for her.
