Mena Fitness Training & BJJ Our mission is to provide friendly and safe fitness for all skill sets, from beginner to the advanced I am a lifelong athlete and martial artist.

I have been involved in sports and martial arts since my youth, training in karate, wrestling, Jeet-Kune Do, and boxing, in addition to competing at an amateur level in mixed martial arts (mma) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments. Having been raised in Hawaii, I am also an avid surfer, having surfed all over the Pacific Ocean, including Fiji, Hawaii, Guam, and throughout California. Through my yea

rs in martial arts, I have had the pleasure of training with UFC, Strikeforce, Pride FC, and Gladiator Champions and veterans, including Bobby Southworth, Lil’ Dave Velasquez, Brian Johnston, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts Erik Benaquisto, Claudio Franca, Dave Ginsberg, and Jose Uribe (former coach for the University of Santa Clara California boxing team.

According to the ICC a recent survey by an association of code enforcement officers statewide found that 65 percent had been assaulted or threatened, and of those about 29 percent were threatened with a deadly weapon. As a former Code Enforcement Inspector I understand the stresses and dangers of the job which is why Mena BJJ is available to teach basic awareness and practical self defense for local inspectors and their departments.
