Crank length changed to 170, bar width changed to 38cm, waxed chain, Grypto bottle cages, Dynamic saddle, and aerobars for easy removal.
The bike went together beautifully.

Why do I insist on overhauling your bike at least once a year?

Let's talk about what happened here.
This client was last in the shop 2 years ago for a bike fit and changes to match the fit numbers.
This year, he had an accident on a ride. He didn't think too much of it.
He did mention to me after the above occurred that the bike felt off.
So he had a local mobile "bike mechanic" do a "tune up".
The fork was never removed and inspected post crash.
You can clearly see the corrosion of the headset bearings in the photo.
That doesn't happen overnight.
How does a "bike mechanic" overlook something like this?

Luckily, this rider walked away from this without any major injuries.

My takeaway from this is:
Mechanics need to stop treating bikes as toys and start looking at them as the machines they are.
If your headset is loose, do not keep riding it. Get it corrected by a professional.
The ring of death can also cause failures like this.

We all want all our teeth and an intact face.

Get your bike serviced regularly and by a shop and tech that actually cares.
